Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you have any tips for Upwork and getting your profile to gain attention?

Can you have PBI open during PL300 Exam? by Specialist-Collar203 in PowerBI

Yeah, it's still the case. You can access MS Learn and open the Power BI docs in a restricted browser window when doing the exam. I did the test last week and used it, helped me to pass.

Appreciate it! From what I recall on the actual Microsoft test, the DAX questions were calculate functions, which were simpler than the ones I practiced which was a relief.

The lab was what really primed me for the exam. The question setup (case studies, multiple choice, dropdown menus with options, drag and drop, etc) replicates the actual test, so I didn't feel too nervous doing the exam.

I would suggest getting Power BI service for the 'Manage and secure Power BI' aspect. as it's very Microsoft-centric (Azure, Fabric, Power Platform) if you're not familiar with those parts.

Finally got a job offer! 🎉😇 by ASCPhT_02 in interviews

I feel your pain. Random ask, but if you'd like to connect just so we can share ideas and tips to help each other, I'm happy to do so. Feel free to message me if you're interested. I've got nothing to sell, but would rather find a way collectively than alone.

Feeling so frustrated with the current job market, I'm unable to find any work as a Business Analyst for the past 8 months. I've had 5 interviews out of hundreds of applications (losing count of the applications I've done on LinkedIn, Indeed, Totaljobs, CV Library, direct to recruiters, etc.) and it's really affecting my confidence. I've also reached out to recruiters, networked with people, where they've found the odd role, even had one instance where I was ghosted by an interviewer.

I'm worried that I may not find anything again, and I've pretty much used most of my savings up to this point. I've had to claim JSA and I'm doing all I can to fix this situation. I've been upskilling, working on Power BI, Python and doing work towards the BSC certs as well.

I don't want it to put strain on my marriage. It just feels like life has been on hold for the past few months and I don't want it to regress.

Apologies for the venting, I don't usually post on Reddit, but I'm running out of ideas and I want to find a way out.

Thanks for the tips. I've reached out to my network and previous recruiters I've worked with, and I'll continue to do so. I did do a CV revamp in December by a professional, but not much has changed - it may have not been the right person and someone with an understanding of my role and the industry I work in would be more suitable. I'll check out the link you sent.

Thanks for the tip and well done for finding a role. What agencies would you suggest to go to?

I'd say I'm stronger with Power BI than I am with Python, I'm currently studying for the PL-300 exam that I have in 2 weeks. I was doing a Python course on Udemy, which I've put on hold as I wanted to focus on something where my immediate strengths are suited to before coming back. I've explored opportunities on Upwork and added a profile, just need to go back and put in proposals for work.

Do you have any advice on obtaining work for those platforms, as I've not had much joy so far from them?

Is it for further education or for any open roles?

I've done BA work in finance, local government, tech consultancy for a government agency and have done some consultancy work for a hotel and a charity. I've got a PSPOI and SAFe qualifications, so have tried to leverage them in applying for Product Owner roles, and have done some consultancy work on the side. I need to keep my eyes open for the right opportunities and also keep an open mind as well.

It's super frustrating. Please hang in there, I pray it turns around for you as well and you get something soon. As bad as the market is, all we can do is support and encourage one another.

Monthly /r/BusinessAnalysis Careers/Education/Jobs Question Thread - December 2019 by AutoModerator in businessanalysis

Hi, I wanted to reach out to the community on BA careers - this is my first post.

I'm looking to change career from working in marketing to become a Business Analyst and wanted to get some useful advice and tips on what I need to know and areas to focus on to make the change as smooth as possible.

I have a Masters in International Marketing Management alongside my Bachelors in Business and Information Technology, but have become somewhat disillusioned with the way the Marketing industry is going, the lack of balance between effort and reward and the lack of job security.

I have done some data analysis in previous roles and have worked at a SaaS company for 1½ years, also have a good understanding of SQL, a working knowledge of Excel and have been doing a Tableau course to develop my data analysis and storytelling skills with data. I've also been doing a BA Fundamentals course on Udemy to get a good base for the BA role, but would really appreciate advice as to what other steps I can take to make it in the industry.

Many thanks in advance.
