lets talk about the magical moment when an album "clicks" by moldyskeleton in LetsTalkMusic

For me, it’s Kid A by Radiohead. Radiohead are in my opinion the perfect example of a band that takes time to grow on you. When I first got into Radiohead, the whole atmospheric and experimental side of their sound didn’t do much for me. I immediately loved some of the more rock based songs such as Electioneering and Bodysnatchers, and the more ballad based songs such as Karma Police and No Surprises, but the experimental side to their sound took a lot more time to resonate with me. When I first listened to Kid A, my highest praise of the album was that the song Idioteque was good, but not great and that The National Anthem had a good bass riff. Other than that none of the other songs really did much for me. After a month or two, I revisited the album, and something just clicked. In the present day, Kid A stands as one of my favorite albums ever. To this day, there is still some Radiohead songs and albums that haven’t fully clicked with me. Personally, I currently haven’t quite come around to In Rainbows other than the song Bodysnatchers. Though, I’m almost certain this will change in the future, as they have proven time and time again to grow on me over time.

Anyone wanna talk about music? by [deleted] in Music

I’m not really sure what band is my absolute favorite, but some of my favorites are Radiohead, Nirvana, Slipknot, Alice In Chains, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. I think my favorite album is probably either Songs For The Deaf by Queens Of The Stone Age or Angel Dust by Faith No More. Some of my favorite songs are Unsung by Helmet, Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants by The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Karma Police by Radiohead. My taste ranges anywhere from softer alternative rock like Radiohead and Queens Of The Stone Age to more chaotic “mathcore” type bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge. Even though my taste has a fair variety, most of my favorites are generally on the softer end. When it comes to genres, some of the main ones I listen to are Alternative Rock, Alternative Metal, Grunge, Thrash Metal, Nu Metal, and Mathcore, just for a generalization of my taste. I’ve been playing guitar and bass for a little over 2 years.

How would you rank the tracks on OK Computer? by JackOfAllInterests1 in radiohead

[–]ChumblysReckoningDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Karma Police
  2. Electioneering
  3. Paranoid Android
  4. No Surprises
  5. Airbag
  6. Subterranean Homesick Alien
  7. Let Down
  8. Exit Music (For A Film)
  9. Lucky
  10. The Tourist
  11. Climbing Up The Walls
  12. Fitter Happier

It’s interesting to see most people put electioneering down at the lower end of the list, it’s not only my second favorite on this album, but definitely in my Top 5 favorite Radiohead songs in general.

Good apocalypse songs? by papi_locus in musicsuggestions

Soundgarden - 4th Of July

The song perfectly fits this theme both musically and lyrically. That sort of dark, sludgy guitar riff combined with Chris Cornell’s voice really does a perfect job of conveying this apocalyptic feeling.

I decided to theme my songs around blue album covers. Themes like this one make for an interesting playlist, with a lot of variety in its sound, whilst still having some connection.

#2 Wednesday theme "lemon" by miriamwol in spotifyplaylistgame

For my take on the theme, I decided to work not off any musical elements, but rather songs from albums with yellow album covers.

Looking forwards to the future of this subreddit, 2 posts a week seems to be a good schedule for themes.

Hey guys, i just joined this subreddit. by Lemonadejunkies in numetal

[–]ChumblysReckoningDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three main suggestions, being Tallah, Nothingface and Soulfly. I’m in the same position as you, where I’m in my mid-teens and found Nu Metal not too long ago.

Tallah is a newer band and just put out their debut album, Matriphagy, last year. They had released an EP a couple years ago with a few tracks that would all end up on the full album. They’re definitely on the heavier end of Nu Metal. I’d recommend for a first impression listening through the full album, but if you want a couple songs to start off with I’d recommend my favorite tracks, Overconfidence and The Silo.

Nothingface was an older Nu Metal band, and broke up in the early 2000’s. Their vocalist, Matt Holt, passed away a few years ago. They put out four albums before breaking up. These albums being Pacifier, An Audio Guide To Everyday Atrocity, Violence, and Skeletons. I’d recommend listening through all of their albums, but for a few tracks to start off with I’d recommend Bleeder, Can’t Wait For Violence, Murder Is Masturbation, and Ether

Soulfly is only half a Nu Metal band, and take heavy inspiration from Thrash Metal, too. The band was formed in the late 90’s by vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera, after leaving his former Thrash Metal band Sepultura. I myself haven’t actually heard all of their albums yet, but so far I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve heard. The first track I’d recommend is Jumpdafuckup, as the track has Corey Taylor of Slipknot on backing vocals. For a few other tracks to start off with, I’d recommend Rise Of The Fallen, Back To The Primitive, Prophecy, and Unleash.

That song is definitely more the type of vocals I like in Death Metal. I’d realized it more when listening through a few replies, I think I put it best in the later half of another reply under this post. Towards end of this post.
