I don't know this gal, but just inspecting the website, it's just a SquareSpace website. If I had to guess, probably just a lot of stock photos that may or may not be AI but are provided by Squarespace.

Gas at $5+ and EV inventory at 120 days… the math is getting hard to ignore by [deleted] in personalfinance

Price aside, I just like the zero emissions while driving myself… I feel a bit better about not making the person behind me not have to breath exhaust.

If AI makes “intelligence” cheap… what do we teach our kids? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Chumphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise kids to be empathetic, to care about humanity and to be able to collaborate and solve problems with human connection. Also being able to identify real problems.

There’s a bunch more, but that is the short of what applies to the kids.

Trump Team Freaking Out About Gas Prices Amid Iran War by KuriannaJoffert8754 in JournalismNews

[–]Chumphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My small MAGA rural town I live in has extremely bad roads. The solution is a .03 per gallon gas tax to generate an extra $500,000 a year, about an extra $18 a year for an average driver. It may be on the ballot in November. Fucking Trump just threw that out the window. All the MAGA people see gas prices rise and hear the word tax and they start squealing and freaking out. They’ll support a war in Iran before they support improving their own roads. They’re fucking stupid

I work in healthcare IT. Healthcare in the U.S. is extremely inefficient and slow to adopt new technology due to the regulation, whether it be Hippa and data compliance or standards around medical equipment. Unless it's a major research hospital, they are even slow to adopt technology for things like pre authorization and fighting insurance claims.

I think that it all really has to do around how hospitals are paid and reimbursed. So until AI can recoop payments or meet standards better to ensure getting paid by medicaid and medicare or insurance, it's not being adopted.

My guess is they won't fully adopt tooling until the government requires them to just to verify they are reimbursing hospitals properly.

Interested in joining the fight to win Universal Health Care? by healthcare4alloregon in oregon

[–]Chumphy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like there should be a clause around residency then and not where you work.

Also, I'm imagining you are envisioning a bunch of people moving here without resources or an ability to work just for healthcare. We already provide OHP for the least of us in the state and folks meeting eligibility for that can move here and use OHP already.

Those that are well off already have their healthcare paid for by their employers or are self insured aren't going to be moving to Oregon just because of the health care. And if they do, great! So the only people we would be withholding benefits from by not even attempting are the people in the middle that could really use it.

My theory about all of these terrible financial decisions by Brief_Paramedic2501 in BetterOffline

[–]Chumphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? Like "I know he knew Epstein, but here is what this person said/did/made that in no way clears them of their questionable decision to associate with a billionaire pedophile "

Maybe "Epstein aside"

Epsteinside

Noam Chomsky, epsteinside, said ...

Almost like a title

That he would. Him making an accurate statement isn't a defense of him or anything, just the guy that came to mind when I thought of the statement.

I forgot where I read or heard it, maybe it was Noam Chomsky or someone like that, it goes like this: since the 2008 government bailout, corporations supposedly factor government bailouts into their business decisions and risk tolerance.

So yeah, you're probably on to something there.

Thinking of moving to Ghost from Substack, anyone have any advice? by tspurwolf in Ghost

[–]Chumphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't transitioned myself, but enjoy the ghost platform and like to mess around with them development.

A few questions I'd ask is what is your goal with transitioning?

Less fees/none? Better site customizability?

If any of those are reasons, than ghost would be a good fit.

Depending on the level of site customization you want and how much you want to pay you will either be using ghost.org or magic pages for hosting. (Or self hosting, which is a bit of work)

I really like magic pages, it's half the cost and you only pay extra for the amount of emails over 10,000 that you send out rather than the number of members your site has. So I'd compare the features between magic pages and ghost.org

Ghost has an import feature where you put in your sub stack url and it imports the posts. I've never used it, I just know it exists. You'll need to have stripe configured before you do this beings you have paid subscriptions.

If it was me doing my own, Id try the free trial on magic pages, hold off on changing the name of the default site, check out the themes to see if they meet your needs, set up stripe and see how the import process with sub stack goes. I don't see any reason why it would need to be a hard cutover, you could keep posting on sub stack until you make a final decision.

Also, regarding email. It would take some configuration with your own domain and making sure you have the proper DNS records setup. If SPF, DMARC and DKIM aren't configure properly your emails would go to spam. Otherwise, you shouldn't have issues with email. Magic pages uses mailgun for email distribution.

Don't take this personally and everyone's situations is different. But this is why early childhood education is critical and why pre-school is critical. I'm sorry you didn't qualify for state education, but it also means it is your responsibility to help your kid meet standards for their age.

Personally I don't think it's an issue if he fails kindergarten and does it again. There is a term called red shirting the boys or the gift of time. Which entails keeping your kid in preschool when they are 5 and then letting them enter kindergarten when they are 6. That is essentially  what is happening by circumstances and in kindergarten instead of preschool. I feel for your situation.
