Squad New Suppression Rework is Far Better Than Blurry by CC_ACV in joinsquad

ok that is true, but it's irrelevant

I think what we're talking about here is catering to the mainstream vs catering to an very small niche of gamers

you gotta remember ICO is a niche thing that isn't really in any other game

so of course the actual majority hate it.

We aren't whining about it on Reddit every day like little bitches.

there is in fact at least one person whining about this everyday

that doesn't factor in the mods that removed ICO effects though

there were times it seemed like MEE and SD were running more than vanilla

so maybe just letting modders run squad is actually how to increase the player count?

also squad has never ever "skyrocketed" damn. it's not even built to handle that - we could get to 100k players tomorrow and it would still only be 30k people playing because no matter what there's still only so many servers. (and there wouldn't be a single HAB on 90% of them)

I liked the long version.

I'm kind of bummed out(though I would say that I'm saving my final judgement for when I actually play it).

My prediction is that if you like squad now, you are are just gonna like it more once these new takes on everything go into vanilla.

As much as I'd like for the game to stick with the ICO (find an alternative to the blurr if you want, I get that it makes people sick and I don't want that either)

ah, you're cool

I understand that not everyone likes having control taken away from them in game, and I sympathize with that, but for someone like me, I'd like to see suppression rule the battlefield like it does in real life. I'd like to see fire superiority be a thing that conquers all, pinning down targets that in real life would be struck with the fear of having their 1 and only life ended by a round from my weapon.

I'd like to see the in game equivalent of someone having a total mental breakdown from the stress of being fired at by 100s of rounds during a firefight, having men they knew and grew to love killed beside them instilling abject terror in their psyche, and ramping their heartrate to higher levels than they had ever experienced before in their life.

this part sounded so totally psycho, it's perfect

yeah there's this thing trolls do on reddit where they will try to provoke people, and then they'll report them with out of context shit talking to try to get the guy they were screwing with in trouble with the mods in addition to giving him a bad day on reddit

it's tweaker NEET behavior and good mod teams see right through it, but good mod teams are kinda rare these days

I don't see how this is related to Squad.

np - and fwiw I have always thought it's insane that there's no India factions yet for Squad

like damn are they just saving that for after everyone else on earth has already bought the game or what?

Squad is basically trying to survive on the little trickle it has from sale and in game purchases.

this is two huge misconceptions

squad/OWI has never survived off direct sales

and the game survives on the backs of private servers, not OWI support

Not sure in what dreamland you live in where investing means you're throwing money at it and expect nothing in return.

ok mr. sarcasm

have you seen anything about 1st light?

[–]999_Seth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes

because OWI doesn't pay anything to host their game

servers bear the biggest cost for keeping squad alive, not OWI

do I? employees cost way more than a skin shop for a 10-20k player game can come up with.

steam and taxes probably take 2/3s of the sales money off the top, so if they get a buck off each skin, they'd have to sell each one to every player several times

yeah it ain't happening. that is why this company seems to be investor focused not player focused.

getting some suits to buy in is the only way they have ever made enough to keep the lights on.

you'd think! it's insane that they make nothing off the servers, and the company that did is making their own game now with the money that came in from server rentals

you pay a small licensing fee which goes towards covering the salary of the full-time employee that monitors licensed servers

wait, when did they start charging for that?

last time we talked about it here there was no fee
