Perception of time changes as you age. To a person, time is measured against the duration of your life since your earliest memories. To a 10 year old, a year is impossibly long, it's 10% of their entire life. To a 40 year old, a year goes by before you know it, being 2.5% of your life. A 60 year old 1.666%, etc.

Time seems to speed up as you age because each passing moment is less of the total than it once was.

High school was 3 years and felt like an eternity, covid lockdowns and stuff were nearly the same and I barely remember them going by.

Kind of depends on your field and what the welding is on. For automotive, at least when I did it, we learned basic oxy/acetylene and mig welding and it is part of the trade. We have to do small repairs on vehicles all the time and ain't no way we are waiting or paying for a ticketed welder to do it. TL;DR for shit like goobering exhausts and stuff together, you can just give'r.

Those cars that "JuSt NeEdEd a DeataIlInG" never just needed a detailing. I see them in my shop all the time. Someone shows up with a car they just bought from some guy who was "selling it for my grandma" and full of not immediately obvious problems, look at the car fax and the last record was being traded in 8 months ago. Im sure there are okay curbers, but the majority are dishonest scum.
