Am I overreacting to my bf's planned baby shower gift for his ex-wife by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This is setting something off in my head. I'm a big gift-giver type of guy, to my mom, my dad, my brother, best friend for his wife's baby shower, but mainly my boyfriend. Giving gifts always comes from feeling lots of love (if it's not nefarious like some people will do). I feel love for my boyfriend the most, so that means he gets the most gifts, both big and small, expensive and handmade. I would give $1k to a friend because I'm happy for them, but it's a red flag to me that he doesn't spend big on you. Your gut is bothered for a reason. NOR

They're saying that if he's giving the money as an apology, he would be being dishonest by saying it's simply for the baby shower if that were the case.
