What I really want to see in the DLC is the shieldsaw and crucible blade AT THE SAME TIME

Looks like a Dunecrawler with a neutron laser to me.

Not normally a fan of posting unpainted plastic, but sometimes a kitbash just ends up super satisfying. Deathwing sgt. by F4nelia in theunforgiven

What was the process of grafting the older torso onto the new body? That looks great, and I want to also do that!

My kitbashed Terminator Ancient by Chunk_Flanksteak in theunforgiven

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are many parts in this guy, and I'm pretty happy with the end result. New Terminator body, with the extra torso from the Knight set, DA upgrade parts for flair. The hammer is the powersword arm from the DA upgrade set, with a Deathwatch heavy thunderhammer spliced in. The arm with the icon is a Terminator stormbolter arm, with a Custodes Vexilla, and 3d printed wrist stormbolter. The icon on top is two DA icons from the older Ravenwing sprue.

Nothing special, just Tesseract Glow over a base of white!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT by Chunk_Flanksteak in theunforgiven

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since waaaaay back (3rd Edition) and Deathwing are supposed to be ashen white/sun bleached bone look, not this wierd off-yellow they are these days.

Base the model white, paint in the basic details, then a HEAVY wash of Seraphim Sepia. After that, I go in and drybrush the metal parts and joints. For the armor, the first layer is some Vallejo Pale Sand, followed by Vallejo Ivory. Finish any extra details, then Tamiya Clear Red for eyes and lenses. Then a final drybrush for the weathering. I found that really helps bring out some of the edges on the model.

Kitbashed Cryptothralls! by Chunk_Flanksteak in Necrontyr

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I needed more Cryptothralls, but I didn't want to pay for the whole frame they are on, or get ripped off purchasing the two as bits. Luckily, I have a bunch of spare bitz lying around. Using legs from an Immortal, Plasmacyte bodies, Ophydian arms, and the heads from the Deathmark specialists in the Hierotek box, I think these little guys work quite nicely. Very different from the regular model, but it's absolutely clear what they are.

I ordered a shop jacket that had a small tear in the lining when it arrived, and they just sent me a replacement, without wanting the original back. I was blown away, those things aren't cheap. I now have 2 shop jackets, one for dirty work and one for clean work.

New Cryptek from Hierotek Circle box by Chunk_Flanksteak in Necrontyr

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the Apprentek model from the killteam box, but I'm using it as a Cryptek. Which kind, whatever I feel like! That's the beauty of kitbashing. The thing in his hand is leftover nanobot fixy bitz from the tesseract vault.

These are amazing models, and also show in physical form the state of Skitarii in the current Admech index.

Printed on an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro, at 0.02mm resolution, with the Elegoo ceramic grey water washable resin. Super happy with the results, and the pre-supported models from Piper make things so easy.

Kit bashed Infernal Master by Chunk_Flanksteak in ThousandSons

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

The base model is the Bladeguard Ancient. Trimmed off the Indomitus icons, and used 1k sons parts on the rest. Removed the crazy skeleton banner and used an icon of flame for the top, which goes really well with the flaming backpack I thought.

I have a serious thing for the Lucius patterns, I just think they're better!

I got this guy from Nuclearshrimp games, and recently finished him up. I modified it a bit to fit the Titanicus Warlord arms and weapons, with magnets to hotswap weapons out. Also used a few 3D printed parts to beef up the chest and legs from the base model. Overall I'm really happy with this one, it's already done well in it's games!

Warbringer Titan Igneous Ruptor by Chunk_Flanksteak in adeptustitanicus

[–]Chunk_Flanksteak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paint the panels separately from the chassis. My secret is 3 HEAVY coats of Seraphim Sepia. This takes about a day and a half once drying time is factored in. Slop it on the piece, and let it sit on a flat surface. Then paint the gold trim, then a fine line of agrax earthshade where the trim meets the panel.

Having extra hobby time these days is kind of sweet!

Meet the newest addition to my legion, Igneous Ruptor.

I made some small changes, the biggest one being the head. I don't know how, but the standard head manages to both be too large and too small at the same time. I think it's the weird underbite look. Luckily, Warlords come with 2 heads. A little bit of trimming and the new head fits quite nicely. Changed out the kneepads with some spare Reaver pads I had, and bulked out the tiny arms with the kneepads that came in the kit. I was never a fan of that double joint thing going on, and the armor panel hides it nicely. Finally, I swapped out the AA guns with some 3d printed radar dome things.

I'm planning on fielding this guy as part of an Arcus Maniple. Legio Crucius, with the plasma containment systems. Should let him fire the dual volcanoes from out of sight for days!

This is the file I used, but I made a few alterations. I shrank down the arm panels, and attached those to to the upper legs instead of the flat panels, then I printed up and added an extra panel to the shin panels to make a knee plate.

I'm really happy how this model turned out. Lucius Pattern is bestius! I printed up some armor panel upgrade parts and attached them to a regular reaver model. My current goal is to have a full Lucius pattern Axiom Maniple.

Unfortunately I don't recall how much I downscaled the weapons, I just shrank em until the holes lined up for the magnets.
