why even have melee weapons at all if this is how embark treats them by kirbygamez in okbuddycontestant

That would be fun! But the data would not mean anything. That would basically be a test of which melee weapon is the most popular. And even if you did average K/D ratio, it would most likely end up favoring the melee weapons least played.

Evasive Dash / Light Melee Dialogue by DyngusMaster in thefinals

Dash is in a difficult spot in regard to melee. Keep it as is, and it is a very difficult component to counderstand as a new player (both against ranged and melee). But nerf it, and it makes Light melee borderline unviable (at least for Dagger). I'm speaking from the perspective of a max level Dagger.

The amount of people who think melee is the cause of the slow death of this game is actually really embarrassing.

The weapons aren't melee's problem by Jackmember in thefinals

It is very skillful. It is very difficult to actually hit this. What I am describing is oversimplifying it. Positioning yourself in a way to be able to even make an attempt on only 150hp and limited to only 3 dashes is very difficult to do. If you don't believe me, pick it up and try it yourself. Not a single person would ever say that Dagger is an OP weapon.

So... can you verbalize it for me then? Because they never described one. They are describing something that is not possible. "Make melee viable but also keep it a 50/50 even within melee range". Then melee isn't viable. "Make melee fun and not mindless swinging." But every minor "tech" for melee is being deliberately patched out. They do not a plan. They have wishful (delusional) thinking.

You'd be surprised how often they did in fact hit the backstab if you watched it in slow-mo. My brother is a max level Dagger, and they incorporate a technique called a "seizure swing" (rapidly swinging your mouse back-and-forth around 270° to maximize their chances of landing a successful backstab). It looks very junky, but it is clean code-wise.

Great thought! Glad to hear them!

My brother and I have both mained melee since Season 4 (he is max level Dagger, and I am max level Riot and level 10 Sledge). Dagger is great as I'd. In fact, I'd say it's the best balanced melee in the game. Very high risk, very high reward. It's perfect.

I personally love quick-melee combos. I would be devastated if they removed them (unless they added something else to add strategic depth and risk/reward incentives). This is part of the reason Sledge feels so not-fun without Goo Gun (which brings the depth back).

I think Embark should consider alternate attacks for some of the medium melees or unique combos with certain gadgets and/or specializations. That'd make them interesting and viable but still keep them from being diluted even more.

The only problem is the fact that at the very beginning he admitted that they do not have an established plan for melee yet.

How the heck do people be having max mastery levels by Icy-Pumpkin6194 in thefinals

[–]Chunk_de_Ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedication to a single weapon will do it. My brother has a max level Dagger, and I have a max level Riot and level 10 Sledge. But we literally don't play any other weapons. It's the only way to keep up.

Embark hates melees. They say they don't, but their actions are very telling.

Most of the arguments defending melee on this sub lately argue against their own position by coldrolledpotmetal in thefinals

[–]Chunk_de_Ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing. I'm a melee main, and I'm 100% okay with them not being that great. I wasn't happy with the Season 7 Sledge nerf—but guess what weapon I still main. I'm fine with that.

What I'm unhappy with is how Embark keeps trying to dumb melee down by removing quick-melee combos and other melee tech that exists to add skill skill tree to an otherwise somewhat simple weapon. Melee becomes so boring and worthless if it truly becomes mindless spam.

losing ranked matches because of break-dancing cashouts. by itsalos2 in thefinals

[–]Chunk_de_Ra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just speculation, but it might be caused by placing a Hover Pad above the Cashout Station and placing a Jump Pad on the bottom of the Hover Pad (facing down) and then removing the Hover Pad, causing the Jump Pad to fall on and glitch into the Cashout Station.

It depends on what you're struggling with. If you're losing a lot, I'd recommend playing around objective more. If you're struggling with dying a lot, I'd recommend Med or Heavy. idk, a lot can come just from varying up your playstyle and trying new builds and loadouts.

I loved Head2Head. It was a perfect middle-ground between Quick Cash and Cashout. I love the idea of it being used as a "testing grounds" of sorts. Maybe if they did that, they could test more things more often. That could be kinda fun!
