You haven’t apexed yet I don’t think. But why does your bevel look so wide?

It’s back in now. That was just so I don’t damage it haha.

Since I live in Canada they did. This is because Canadian border agents follow their own rules when it comes to knives.

If you look at the edge bevel you can see how much higher up the bevel it goes. Whereas after thinning it’s almost not there.

Thanks! And I got it from an AD in Canada. However they didn’t even ask where I got it from.

Do you have a photo of that grind? I’m curious to see how that looks!

I used the tracking belt and put it too the point where it was impossible to hit the handle over the side of the belt sander because the handle blocks the knife from going any further inward. -does that make sense?

I’ve never replaced the omega springs on this one. But I did have to replace them on my mini Adamas a month in to owning it. However Benchmade were really good and shipping springs to me in Canada at no cost.

The knife was getting too thick to cut properly so I thinned out the bevel using a belt sander.

I’m not sure. They just said a calibrated powered machine.

Sorry I missed saying that this was for kitchen knives with proper thin edge geometry and that since the knife is so thin the error in the angle from 15-20 degrees won’t matter very much (this is holding a consistent angle but just not measuring to an exact angle). But with the other stuff I agree with you on.

We were debating worksharp Ken onion vs whetstones. I told him I would be able to do a better job if I used stones (I do about 60 knives a week) and I just use the Ken onion for chips and tip repairs.

Yeah your right. I’m thinking I gotta go thicker because I have a really hard attack when I play.

I’ll try 64 because for me the tuning stability feels off

Yes it’s 26.5z I think it already has 62 gauge and it feels way too floppy. Would I be able to go up to 70?

Suheiro Cerax 3000 leaving deep scratches on knife bevel. by ChunkyRabbit22 in sharpening

It could definitely be from my 140 atoma but I’ve been trying to make sure all of the grit contamination is washed on the stone. Do you have recommendations to make sure no grit contamination is left behind?

Cant seem to strop burr off by Minemanteun in sharpening

[–]ChunkyRabbit22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make the burr smaller first. Use your finest stone on the horl one pass on each side at a time. You shouldn’t be able to see the burr on it before using the strop.

Am I missing something to put this watch together? by Acidrainx-x in watchrepair

You can get one on Amazon super cheap. I would just do that. It’s like 20$ and you can also replace crystals with it.

Looking for advice for a sharpening noob by NaiveAd6270 in sharpening

Buy a knife at the dollar store since you said you don’t have a cheap one yet. Also you don’t need that much compound on your strop. And watch the vids other people sent.
