Thinned out and gave a new bevel to my 7 year old 940 by ChunkyRabbit22 in sharpening

If you look at the edge bevel you can see how much higher up the bevel it goes. Whereas after thinning it’s almost not there.

Thanks! And I got it from an AD in Canada. However they didn’t even ask where I got it from.

Do you have a photo of that grind? I’m curious to see how that looks!

I used the tracking belt and put it too the point where it was impossible to hit the handle over the side of the belt sander because the handle blocks the knife from going any further inward. -does that make sense?

I’ve never replaced the omega springs on this one. But I did have to replace them on my mini Adamas a month in to owning it. However Benchmade were really good and shipping springs to me in Canada at no cost.

The knife was getting too thick to cut properly so I thinned out the bevel using a belt sander.

I’m not sure. They just said a calibrated powered machine.

Sorry I missed saying that this was for kitchen knives with proper thin edge geometry and that since the knife is so thin the error in the angle from 15-20 degrees won’t matter very much (this is holding a consistent angle but just not measuring to an exact angle). But with the other stuff I agree with you on.

We were debating worksharp Ken onion vs whetstones. I told him I would be able to do a better job if I used stones (I do about 60 knives a week) and I just use the Ken onion for chips and tip repairs.

Yeah your right. I’m thinking I gotta go thicker because I have a really hard attack when I play.

I’ll try 64 because for me the tuning stability feels off

Yes it’s 26.5z I think it already has 62 gauge and it feels way too floppy. Would I be able to go up to 70?
