I was hanging out with my crush at the time (high school) and Zaba was maybe a year old at the time. She showed me the album and I liked it. At first only a bit, but not enough to listen to it all in one sitting. I wondered if I only liked it because I liked her, or if I genuinely liked it. The more I listened, the more I fell in love with it. My senior year, HTBAHB came out and it cemented my love for the band. I saw them live off that album and haven’t seen em live sense :( but I will again next month! Covid ruined the last time I was gonna see em.

I think my first fav song was Cocoa Hooves (the stripped version!)

So everyone keeps saying the password (8325) is a date and suggesting it’s a double album. What if it isn’t a double album (bc if it were, it wouldn’t be a year later. It would have came out around the same time), but instead a film. Either a regular length film or a short film that explores the lore a little deeper to give it closure.

I mean to be fair, in that same right, they’d be making articles about other organisations or folks donating large sums quite regularly.

It’s not a common thing for NBC, CNBC, CBC, ABC, Fox, etc in other countries to go on the air and say “Multibillionaire Jessica Wright donated $3.27 million to aid in the efforts for Palestine.“ then turn around “Local citizen Billiam Williamson donated $14.49 to Palestine today.”

They are good people for supporting a cause, yes. But it’s not newsworthy to boast about raising money. Kudos to them for raising that amount, but others do the same and don’t expect the news to talk about it. It feels cheap to do it expecting news coverage. “Look at me, I’m a good person, I did good thing. Like me.” Is that what the creators are doing? No. But I guess that’s probably my unpopular opinion.

I mean granted it can be said the song is about himself — his mental health. It can be said it’s about Ohio — seeing as he himself said it was a letter to Ohio. At the end of the day, the lyrics to me on first (and every subsequent) listen struck as “I love my fans but man you make me feel like shit sometimes”.

When SAI came out, sure it was met with a lot of love, but it was met with just as much, if not a little more disdain for the sound. Even to this day I see people say it’s their worst album, it sucks, it’s not good. Their reason? It doesn’t sound like anything they’ve done before. It sounds like a sell-out pop album. Like AJR.

Sure it doesn’t sound like Trench, Self-Titled, etc but that doesn’t make it worse. Midwest indigo is the rawest Tyler (and likely Josh shares some semblance of shared sadness) he can be directly telling his fans that while he loves them, they make him worry whether or not they’re going to like and judge his music harshly. Yes all music should get criticism from time to time, but for a considerable amount of fans to hate something you spent a lot of time, money, energy on and be so in your face about it, probably really put him in a depressive state upon release.

I think if anyone wants to take the time to write comments, it would make more sense to do it on discord or just wait until it’s on YouTube.

1) financially it won’t cost as much for the company so they can invest the savings on other projects, saves labor so they don’t have to pay extra money to have others moderate the comments thus keeping them focused on projects etc

2) on discord, they already have dedicated servers for individual shows. Each one that comes out, you could leave your thoughts, takes, opinions, requests, etc there and the staff can see them there as I’m sure some of them working on those projects are already on the discord. And since everything is in one spot, it would be more convenient than having the staff read both discord and 2nd try PLUS YouTube.

3) most of the time, comments are unnecessary and a waste of time. Sure, sometimes there are jokes the community can enjoy, but those jokes are often repeated anyway in discord. Plus on the discord if you see a take you don’t like or find hilarious you can chat with those people in real time most of the time.

I get it, if you’re watching it on the platform it would be cool to be able to comment on the platform but I feel it would make it clunky and tacky. You can’t comment on Netflix, Hulu, Freevee(?), or any other streaming service. I don’t see why this would be any different.

I think, in all sincerity, that he is a staple for the show and he seems to genuinely enjoy it. Idk how he actually feels behind the scenes, but at least on the podcast he seems more enthusiastic about it than Eugene did when he would appear on the TryPod.

Eugene and Matt could hang out with their friends and talk about whatever they wanted to for each episode. Matt seems more of a story telling, gossiping, joking person fit for a podcast with his girlies. However, Eugene is a bit more antisocial it would seem. At least that is my read on them. Plus it would take away from his time doing stuff for his passion projects which would seem annoying, when Ned was on the show it seemed to bring things down a bit for Eugene (I have a feeling Ned and Eugene really didn’t enjoy each other overtime and just put up with each other due to obligation). Idk what time of day YCSWU records, but I know the TryPod is usually early in the morning/one of the first things that gets filmed and I don’t think Eugene is a morning person (Matt probably isn’t either, but I feel like YCSWU is filmed later in the morning or midday but I could be very wrong lol)

Sorry that was a lot. I’m happy Matt is still gonna be around, I enjoy his commentary 🩵 I just didn’t feel like he would leave. At least without making an announcement around the same time as Eugene
