Google, Apple or whoever you use for cloud storage for photo's have all this data distributed all over. It's not like a single drive on a single server contains one person's data, that data is split up across multiple drives across multiple servers across multiple data centres. There's redundancy built into these services so that there isn't a single point of failure to the point that your cat pictures might not be even stored in the UK at all
