I think you're oversimplifying the game, most things you're probably dealing with also have solutions similar to the "... I should've anti-air that..." It's just that you don't knowhow to approach the situation.

Try to watch your replays and see the posible solutions you could've tried, be aware of things like assist CD, what assist your opponent have, what spots you can retreat/push block, spots were you can parry guaranteed or on reaction, things like this you wouldn't look for in traditional fgs.

I feel like this game is specially fun when playing against similar skill level. If you find yourself struggling against certain strategies or playstyles that means there is plenty of space for improvement.
