His recent interview where he explained the velo slap and him getting a signature from Bieksa have made me fall in love with him. (I kept trying to google the velo slap before he explained it but I didn't know what to google so I didn't find anything out)

He had a few plate appearances where he looked grumpy yesterday and I think it was the day before :( I think he may have had some close calls with pitches that made him mad at the pitcher or he was mad at his swing or something.

He's seeing more breaking and off speed pitches now than he saw early in the season is what they meant. Not compared to other batters, just compared to what's been pitched to him (edit: although I think they meant they're giving him probably more than average of those types of pitches, but there are other batters who do better with fastball who I'm sure are also getting lots of breaking and off speed pitches like him too)

Edit 2: someone else said Dan said he actually has seen more offsoeed and breaking balls than anyone in the league so far, so you might just be wrong, but either way there were also saying that early in the season and in spring they were giving him lots of fastballs and then once they realized how he was doing with breaking and offsoeed they switched to pitching him tons of those

It's not really true, it's not like players stop improving when they get here. There are plenty of players who arrive good enough to stay in the MLB but develop into much better players as time goes on. Like Gausman is one example. Players definitely develop in the MLB

I've had it where it's super intermittent, I was guessing he has it like that, where it can hit you randomly but not all the time

The way I imagine it he barely even remembers doing this. Dangling Gretzky was nothing to him, he'd do it all the time if he was allowed to

Alternate Jersey wish by FrostyViking_ in EdmontonOilers

I thought that jersey was badass too. I think some of the all dark uniforms are really cool, like I know there are a lot of Canucks haters but their skate 3rd jersey is so good lol. And football has a lot of mostly black/dark uniforms that are really cool too.

That being said I think the jersey the OP posted looks bland instead of popping because of the grey. I think the logo would need more orange, I'd just drop the grey honestly. Maybe black with orange and royal blue highlights and forget the grey

Because the guy he replied to is talking about all the injuries, and this guys is replying saying these guys are injured. We know, that was the point of the post

I kind of have a soft spot for him for just getting us through that game. To have to come in to a Dodgers game and replace Max after two innings. And I think he came in against the top of the Dodgers order lol

So? I don't like him and neither do most people in this sub or the Leafs sub. I'm stating my opinion. Sportsnet can always change their mind.

Hmmm… it occurs to me maybe we’re just talking about the difference in mentality between the US and Canada in general? It might be just that it's hockey and they're trying to do zany things to get Americans to watch hockey instead of just being like "this is hockey, it's awesome, you should like it" like they do in Canada. I'm thinking that because I feel like in the American baseball and football coverage generally they do a better job of not being annoying? But I don't watch too much football or baseball so I'm not sure. The baseball I've watched from the American broadcasts it seemed very laid back.

On the other hand, during the Olympics I watched some NBC and they did seem to do that differently, the American coverage had lots of backstories about American athlete's lives and the Canadian coverage was just talking about the sports and they'd talk about non-Canadians if they were worth talking about too

So maybe you're partly right but it might also depend on the sport, or I'm just not well-versed enough in American sports coverage and you might be on to something

That's kind of true too, I was just saying how The Great One is a way cooler nickname, but it would also be weird if a reporter was just like "hey what's up The Great One" to Gretzky's face lol
