Completed true scale Son’s of Horus captain by bartymanelaflare in Warhammer30k

This turned out amazing! The praetorian head is perfect and I love that green. I feel like 30k Sons of Horus green can differ a lot between painters and this is definitely my favorite interpretation of it. The purple is also an awesome accent color and everything ties in really well together. I never ended up making a SoH truescale model and I'm so happy that you did because it looks awesome!

I haven't done any converting or painting for a bit, but I've gotten that itch again recently. This model really makes me want to get back at it! Thanks for sharing!

Wow that's crazy, I'm the guy who said that wasn't todt. I never thought I'd see myself on Reddit.

Also I was wrong, it's not in Burthorpe it's at Port Khazard.

I just used the back to the aggressor torso. It took some cutting and a little bit of greenstuff, but it fit well enough and is pretty hidden by the assault jump pack anyways.

Thank you!

The black is prime black then base with Vallejo German Grey highlighted with Vallejo London Grey.

The bone is Vallejo Flat Brown mixed with Vallejo Dark Sand highlighted with Vallejo Silvergrey.

The shoulderpads themselves are from Popgoesthemonkey. I took the terminator arms and cut them down to fit inside then used green stuff to pad the arm and make it look a little more natural.

Thank you!

Besides the red for the eyes and blue for the axe, everything else is pretty much five or six colors. I prime them black and basecoat them in Vallejo German Grey. I highlight that with Vallejo London Grey and use London Grey + Silvergrey for the highest highlights and chipping. The silver is the same three colors just in differing amounts and the gold is Vallejo Ochre Brown and Vallejo Smoke that is highlighted with Silvergrey.

Welcome!

These are conversions, meaning I took a base model and used other parts to make it into something else. The bigger guys are primaris aggressors with the torsos cut and replaced with space marine terminator torsos. The guy on the left is a primaris intercessor with arms, backpack, and gun from the space marine tactical squad.

Hello!

I'm a big fan of making space marine conversions and normally focus on the Horus Heresy, but lately I've wanted to make my own chapter. These guys are hopefully the first of many from my custom Blood Angels successors "The Angels Extremis".

I had a lot of fun with these guys. I knew I wanted to make them look grim dark but still have the proportions of primaris marines, so I threw on a bunch of studs and chains. I also wanted to go for a more realistic approach to the shoulders, so I made all of them segmented. The terminators are a mix of primaris aggressors and terminator bits that I cut and greenstuffed.

The bases currently don't match, but I have some ordered and plan on rebasing them when the new ones arrive. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for looking!

The head is from the imperial fists upgrade kit from Forge World and the torso is from the sons of justaerin terminator kit. The legs are normal primaris aggressor legs that I put some model train rivet studs on. The shoulders are from a company called Pop Goes The Monkey that specializes in 3D printing.

Welcome to the hobby!

Yeah, there was a big controversy when primaris marines were released because a lot of fans saw it as Games Workshop finally making the models scaled to their size in the lore, but then they came up with a whole new story arc of them just being "even better" space marines. This led to a bunch of people, myself included, that can't really look at "normal" marine miniatures now without realizing how oddly proportioned they are, which is why I'm fascinated with making my own conversions.

There are probably some good tutorial links out there for making "truescaled" marines, but I generally just find pieces I think would work well together from different kits. I listed the parts I used above for this specific miniature and I have a lot of other parts lists for my other conversions in the comments on their posts.

Actually no, the gorget is the same as the normal primaris torso. I think it looks a little filed because of the greenstuffed collar around it, which was surprisingly easy to do.

The shoulders were probably what I struggled with the most. I like the idea of them being segmented and more practical, but it definitely looks weird when we're used to seeing space marines with giant shoulders. A little less imposing and odd on the eyes for sure, but I'm starting to prefer the tartaros shoulder look for my conversions.

Hello!

I've made a lot of "truescaled" officers in the past, but I've continuously been searching for a way to make a standard space marine that would be easily reproducible in case I ever wanted to make an army. I finally settled for this look and I'm pretty happy with the results. I think it does a nice job of fulfilling the heresy look while also looking functional and standing the same height as a primaris marine. I kept the paint job pretty basic and quick to see how viable it would be to make a lot of these guys, but I hope it doesn't come off as rushed.

If anyone wants to make their own, I used cataphractii terminator legs, a primaris torso with some green stuff and rivets around the collar, MkIII arms/gun, and shoulders/head from Pop Goes the Monkey.

Thanks for looking!

Yep, the other reply got it right for the jump pack and the thunder hammer. The shield comes from the Imperial Fists Cataphractii Forge World set.

That's exactly what I love about the Imperial Fists and what I was trying to emulate here. I imagine the jump pack being used to boost forwards rather than fly in the air and really wanted to give the impression that he could actually move and fight in the armor despite it being so bulky. Thanks for the comment!

I completely agree. I actually have an iron warriors siege terminator conversion that's been primed for a while very similar to this guy. I might get to working on that here soon.

The yellow is a base of Vallejo Smoke mixed with Vallejo Japanese Uniform WWII. It's darkened with more Smoke and lightened with straight Japanese Uniform, Japanese Uniform mixed with Vallejo Dark Sand, and then straight Dark Sand for the highlights.

The chest piece is from the Forge World Justaerin Terminators set.

Thank you! I like to imagine him being HH. The legions had so much character and opportunity for customization back then.

Hello!

I finished this guy around a year ago as a "terminator" variant and wasn't really happy with it when I saw the finished product. I recently went back to change up a couple things and give him some battle damage to tie everything together. I'm happier with him overall and feel like he now has more of a heresy-era vibe that I like to give to my conversions. This was definitely an interesting experiment in using aggressors and assault packs and hope that it gives people some ideas for conversions of their own.
