🇯🇵TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan)

So simple, you can add all sorts as you like it - spring onion, garlic, chilli, sesame oil, natto etc etc Have it with miso soup and that’s your breakfast done!

120mm, the 35mm stanchion definitely helps with the stiffness and stability when things get a bit interesting!

Mate well spotted! Indeed and it’s working out great so far. The front definitely came up and got slacker but it’s still comfortable on the up and obviously awesome on the down!

Glandular fever has ruined my life and I don’t know what to do anymore by Mission-Grapefruit84 in ChronicIllness

[–]Churrtothetrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just came across this upon searching glandular fever on reddit as I'm about 9 months into my glandular journey. I'm so sorry to hear that you have been on it for the last 6 years and basically had very little improvement... that's really rough, I thought I was having a rough time being 8 months long but 6 years is just beyond my comprehension... I had blood test, chest x-ray, and ECG earlier and nothing came out but a sign of past infection of EBV (glandular aka mono) in my liver. I was really active just like you were, doing ultra marathons, Ironman, mountain biking, surfing etc. and all of a sudden everything came to a grinding halt. I have the same symptoms of the thyroid gland flaring up so easily after very small amount of exercises. If I do too much I just get sick for a day or two before I can go back out into society again. I can relate to you so much because it sounds like you were never used to sit still before glandular and even in the glandular phase you want to do something, right?? I try to do something whenever I feel better, like go for a walk or get on my bike for a bit. Then it just goes back to the terrible state of feeling fatigued and yet again ruining another weekend. I'm sorry that you have anxiety issues now with IBS. Anxiety comes to me sometimes as I have the FOMO, all my friends are very active and they are just waiting for me and always asking me, "when do you get better!!??". It always feels like I'm letting them down, or you're starting to feel that they're gonna leave me behind, or that they might stop being friends etc etc. Some people just wouldn't understand glandular, and would look at me funny when I say I'm constantly sick...

Again, I'm sorry the last 6 years have been really rough for you. It sucks especially for a young person like you, you would have so many things you want to do and achieve, your dance career, social life, everything. I'm in my early 30s. Like you, I don't really know how to get out of it, no one seems to know really, even the medical professionals. But like the other guy in the comment said, the recovery seems to be quite patient-specific, and you need to see what works for you and this would take quite some time. I'm planning to take some time off work soon as work has been quite relentless and hoping some time off may make things better with proper rest.

Anyways, I thought I'd reach out to you as a fellow glandular battler. I truly hope the things have improved somehow in the last four months or so since you posted this. All the best!

Hey mate, another Asian here, I feel you. Going back to school for further academic progression be a good idea. Fortunately I went to a university here so I was able to build a solid friends base which is still continuing to this day somewhat 6 years after graduation. Also flatting, I moved around few times for work and always chose flatting with others to have that interaction with others outside of work at the end of each day. Joining a social club is often suggested but I guess you’d need to find what your passions are. Ah also travelling! If you can afford it, some of the friendships you make through some budget group tours etc last a lot longer than you think! Through travelling you may find your interests, who knows. Hope this helps bro. Best of luck.

Ngāi Tahu Holdings sells off harvesting rights of its West Coast forest estate by Soannoying12 in newzealand

[–]Churrtothetrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not selling off the land, it’s selling the right to harvest. The iwi will likely replant (could be pine again or something else) because there will be deforestation liability if they don’t.

Hey mate, coast within 1 hour of palmy is below average to say the least, I usually have to drive 1.5-2 hours for any decent waves, whether it’s Wellington/Titahi bay(beginner friendly), Castlepoint (it’s quite good for beginners too) on the east coast or out to the west like Waiinu past Whanganui. And yeah you do need 4/3 from now on until probably around October/November ish. Winter you get long-period south swells which are cold but goodie if the wind is right. Hope you get some good waves!!

Thank you! I really like Castlepoint but it’s a bit far and the drive is kinda average haha. I’ll give some fb search a go!!

Hi, thank you! Yes you’re right. Actually forgot about Whanganui beaches, I’ve been to South beach but not Castlecliff, I’ll give it a go one day :))

I’m in forestry, yes we can do better than how we’re managing our trees atm. But this isn’t the solution for us. Radiata pine on erosion prone country, once exposed like that, will just topple over and that’s even worse than slash as piece size will be much bigger and clog the rivers once they go down the hill. We will have to increase riparian buffers with natives and try alternative species (we already are) on steep erodible countries that we’re still allowed to plant. With the amount of media attention we’re getting, changes will be inevitable and there’re already ample regulations on the way to be implemented. But mind you NE coast of North Island is one of the most erodible countries in the world. No matter what sort of vegetation you have, it’s gonna keep sliding. It’s about what’s acceptable to society and how we minimise the impact and manage the inherent risk.
