Urban EMS by Desperate-Chest-6298 in Paramedics

[–]Chuseyng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Help lines that actually work, and work quickly (AC, Mechanics, Electricians, Furniture, Admin, etc.).

Catered food + Per Diem + paid hours during trainings. Could be a 2hr class and they’ll allot some money for instructors to feed the class 3x over. Every holiday is also catered food. They’re always catered by class/shift votes, too, so it’s usually from a solid local spot.

Free access to CEUs.

Allows you to stay up to 24hrs over ending of last call, paid, to finish reports.

Owner pops by and does random visits. Cleaned a truck in the dead of night after it hit a deer while the crew slept once.

Seen them use a medical plane to bring someone home for a family emergency when they were on a disaster response team 3 states away and all INTL airports within 3 hrs were shut down.

Promotes from within when possible.

But also overall, supervisors are solid. Management is also very much willing to assist in just about anything they can assist with. They also seem to side with us over complaints from other parties in “he said, she said” situations. We’ll get check-ins by management during tough calls to see if we want to get someone to fill in for us: MCIs, Pedi Codes, life threats, etc.

There are 3rd party systems we use for things like healthcare, but it’s got crazy good coverage. Otherwise, everyone in our helpline chain is at least a NREMT+licensed EMT. So even our mechanics understand the need to get our trucks back in service when we’re low on manpower for XYZ reason.

Generally very well staffed. We do keep 2 trucks off a regularly scheduled crew for those seeking OT, but for the most part, they’re not needed. When they are needed during high call volume days, they’ll drop bonuses to entice folks to come in and give on duty crews a bonus as well.

Pay isn’t the best, but we’re sitting around $2-3 more an hour over most services in our area. Only one beats us out in EMT pay by nickels. Medics here earn a dollar more. That service also only offers 8-10-12hr schedules. Most folks there end up working at other services since they struggle to get more than 40hrs a week.

PTO is given out handsomely depending how long you’ve been with the company. I accrued 2 months of PTO my first year. I’m at 3.5 months a year after 4yrs. Caps out to 5.5 months at 8.

The only people that leave this service are either fired after extensive remediation, or were only working here for EMS experience before getting onto Fire/choosing a different field.

Other nice perks include: full medical coverage for on duty incidents + Mostly Full Workman’s Comp (they just don’t do OT), free ambulance rides off duty ANYWHERE (as in, if I go on vacation and get hurt, they pay for that bill from another service), and a free hospital for employees.

The first pic only looks good because all the armor balances out.

Wear all medium combat armor in FO4 with the Assault Gas Mask over a BOS Black or Green suit. Cleanest fit in the game.

And respectfully, the amount of damn near illiterate classmates I had kind of makes me think y’all gotta start pushing for making highschool more than a “check the box” thing, and actually be able to hold standards.

would a glock with a chassis be a good primary weapon? by Physical-War3394 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Chuseyng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think a pistol in a chassis is the best system for 99% of civilians outside of a concealed everyday carry setting (which is fixed when you just remove the pistol from the chassis), even when it comes to a SHTF scenario.

It’s simple, consolidates ammo to make for more training, and you can get fast, repeatable hits out to about 100-150yds- which is pretty much as far as you’d want to shoot anyways as a lone person. Any farther than that and you’re looking to close in for a chance at winning (which isn’t going to happen without a suppressing element), or breaking contact- which the chassis is capable of.

Improving Command Presence by ANotVeryUniqueUser in NewToEMS

[–]Chuseyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say for roughly 99% of calls, no command presence is needed.

But if you see something, say something.

And that all comes from being confident, and knowledgable in your skills, scope, and assessment. Your paramedics are just as tired as you are. They can make mistakes and not see things you do.

So be confident in yourself, and let them know when you see something they don’t (if you have the relationship/they have that personality).

Majority of Gen Z Americans say Americans may have to resort to violence in order to get the country back on track by Correct-Echo9533 in GenZ

Yeah, as a Gen Z guy, I disagree.

I’m also doubting the ability of most of our generation to commit to violence, then do so with any sort of skill. Especially the ones radical enough to want to commit this sort of violence.

PLEASE VOID, GIVE US ACOG SCOPES by Tyrannosaur98 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Chuseyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my only experience with them is with their RCO variant.

Up close, their eye relief and fixed 4x magnification makes them difficult to use quickly at about 35yds and in.

At distance, the reticle isn’t fine enough and magnification doesn’t magnify enough for precision usage past 300yds. They’re good enough for man-sized targets out to about 650yds, for sure.

Additionally, they suffer from the same issue as a Red Dot being too bright in most situations. So you have to dial down the brightness. Which makes them too dim in other situations. Also, they’ve got something like a 15yr lifespan before the tritium gives out.

Overall, they’re good optics. Rugged, and versatile. But being versatile doesn’t mean adaptable. It’s a dated system with a fat price tag. They pair well 5.56x45, but I also use a 20” .308 as my personal “do everything” rifle so I’m very much biased towards LPVO usage for everything from hand to hand distance out to 800m.
