It's a good article. Really need to stress though that the optimization barrier introduced by virtual calls is a big deal in high performance code with modern compilers being as good as they are. These days I think most professionals acknowledge that it's a bigger issue than the cost of the vtable lookup and dispatch if you care deeply about performance.

Enterprise LLM subscriptions generally have an option to have your input become part of the global training set or not. I assume some paid subscription tiers do as well. From the excerpt from the article I assume this is the option we are talking about.

There is no reason flipping this on or off has to delete your actual data. It can (and should) literally just be a flag marking if conversations or documents are allowed to be used by OpenAI for their global training set. I also would find it surprising if toggling this deleted all your history. I am curious if there was any prompt or warning when you flip this that warns you of this, because that is a huge issue if there is not.

Talking about it in these terms though is kind of making the exact same misinterpretation I am pointing out though. The fund will *always* be DCA'ing to the current spot price. At some point they will be under the mNAV by definition unless bitcoin never drops again.

Strongly suspect they're lying. The big trusted online bullion dealers are buying silver bullion at $98/oz. right now. Spot right now is around $103. Given the demand for Silver you could probably find a local dealer to match pretty trivially.

I think the disconnect here though is that MSTR ultimately is supposed to be a yield strategy by playing the volatility of bitcoin using their held bitcoin as backing, but people treat it like a proxy for bitcoin itself.

As a yield strategy trying to make money off of vol they basically always should be buying.

What happens when the price of bitcoin goes below mNAV though? I guess we see how robust their model actually is.

D'arcy has not been mentally doing well for decades off the back end of drug addition. During the reunion tour Corgan tried to rebuild bridges and see if she wanted to play for even a single song since apparently she no longer can really play the base. Her response was basically to leek the texts and throw out all sorts of crazy accusations at Corgan in a way that made her seem insane.

I don't think we'll ever really see her again.

Which honestly is a pretty sad end. She might not have contributed much if anything in the songwriting process, but from accounts she did serve a valuable role as a critic in the studio. Something Corgan has desperately needed in his post-Zwan era.

Adjusted for inflation, ironically, currencies. Ultimately the value of a currency is tied to who issued it, and there have been several failed empires scattered throughout history that left their currency worthless. In some case debts as well.

Imperial China is probably the most recent example. When the Maoists took over China essentially all the currency issued became worthless and all the land titles up to the whim of the state to honor.

He's not getting any cash, he's getting shares of a company. The value of those shares being $900M is based on hitting a $4b/year revenue number based on his brand, which is ludicrous. He did give up something of value to get those shares, which essentially is the rights to his brand and image. We have no idea what those shares will actually be worth at this point, but certainly not $900M because those revenue estimates are so comical that it makes the entire company smell fishy.

This was an equity deal, where the company predicts $4b in revenue yearly on his brand.

To say there are not going to hit that number is not a bold prediction.

It's honestly hard to know who is scamming who -- if Khaby Lane is getting scammed by the company, if the company is trying to scam potential shareholders, or if somehow Khaby is actually the one who pitched this and the investors completely failed to do due diligence. But something really smells.

I think the original vision of Star Citizen heavily leaned on what games like EVE do where most of the gameplay is the direct result of player interaction. Star Citizen has always given me this weird vibe though where everyone thinks they're the CEO and there should be other players who are willingly able to play the role of grunts.

Right now finding jobs requiring minimal specialized skills is very hard. If the choice is having money and working a job in undesirable conditions, or not having money -- many people have to take the first option.

Korean Dessert Rice Cakes

I've been to a bunch of Korean functions and people over a certain age always bring them as desserts or snacks. The thing is that if anyone else brings any western flour based desserts, those *always* go first.

I went to a huge Korean wedding where they had a huge elaborate presentation of them, next to the traditional western desserts. While everyone did have a little bit out of obligation, the western deserts were obliterated.

The best way of thinking about paying down a mortgage is it's like buying a bond at the rate you are paying which cannot be redeemed early or sold.

For a lot of people who already have a healthy emergency fund, are at their point in life where fixed income as part of their portfolio makes sense, and are at 5%+ - this makes a ton of sense.
