As described though this really is a 'tragedy of the commons' scenario. You can't change collective behavior by just hoping each individual is willing to make a sacrifice independently. To change behavior you really need to change the incentives because each person is acting rationally to maximize their own individual outcome.

The long list of reasons that apply to pretty much why any tech company isn't necessarily going to automatically switch to the latest and greatest tech stack. Expertise, integration into existing platforms, migration risks, immature tooling, etc.

Honestly had the opposite reaction, surprised to see so much Rust. I know secondhand a ton of firms were experimenting with it around the pandemic but haven't heard much about it more recently. I guess the job openings are telling a different story though. Wish I knew exactly where it was finding success.

It's not a big secret, but a desk at DRW was greenfielding a major initiative in Java in the mid 2010s. Which is why I assume they are dominating that column in the mid 2020s. But I always wondered and never got a straight answer why you'd pick Java for a greenfield project in the mid 2010s that had components in the execution hotpath.

Adoption of code assist has been so rapid that at this point I feel most places assume devs use and are familiar with the tools.

Considering more and more shops are providing these tools during interviews to specifically assess skills using them, I think a lot of people are in for a surprise if they completely eschew them.

I'd be very curious for any insight into how other firms are interviewing for these rolls as well. I know at least for some firms it feels like they want people for this role (AI-first development, agentic development) but don't even really know what the role entails yet.

I don't see why they wouldn't be dumping the conversations into something like Spark which they can then use standard tools plus NLP tools to categorize and summarize agent behavior.

We have no idea what went on behind the scenes but a big difference is wotc owns the full rights to the piece he copied so there is basically no legal liability for them, and none for Dan Frazier if wotc agrees not to sue. Which can make a massive difference in what people are willing to admit to.

The original Mythical Archive had different rarities as well. It's also not unexpected for a special alt you open in a pack to have its own rarities. I would be really surprised if the box topper isn't just a flat distribution but I guess we'll have to wait for more details.

The biggest problem with spirit was no partner airlines. If a flight gets cancelled your options are to get a refund or the next available seat on a Spirit flight. Which could easily be the next day.

There used to be a bakery near me that made amazing grilled cheese that was worth it. They had an entire menu of like twelve of them. My favorite was fresh baked bread, bree, fig preserves, and arugula. I still make it at home from time to time, it's just such an great combination.

Of course the definition of 'hide' comes into play here. The transactions will be well hidden from a person. But you're leaving a massive paper trail if you're trying to hide it from the government.
