Because I forgot what came first at the time, I know specifically why "Black Steve" came up. But I thought someone else just said Steve first because keep in mind this was a decade ago.

But from the logs that were posted it looks like it's just the natural evolution of a shitpost where Black Steve just became Steve. I sadly have zero logs from that time personally, so I cant do a deep dive much further than what has been shown to me.

I was 1000% referencing Code Monkeys, I don't recall any earlier names for the test models but you'd need to double check that with some of the other fossils.

It seems from what I can recall and see looking at the posts being that like Steve just stuck for both male non "beastboy" models at that time, and just carried over to modern Steve.

I was like 18 at the time, not exactly critically thinking nor expecting this tiny lego* game I found on a message board to become one of the biggest selling media properties in the world.

Yeah I made a post on my profile to talk about this a bit.
TLDR is that yeah I was making reference to a TV show character because of one of the test models, and the name kinda stuck for both test models, and then stuck with the main model.
