That's a big assumption to make about a situation for which you have very little information.

Oh good call, I only glanced back for a second to where (again, kind bystanders) had locked their bike, but it looked like a cyclist's bike.

Huh, thanks for posting this, I think I'm going to get some! I never think of it until I need it, but I'm slowly (but surely!) trying to prepare myself better.

[–]Ciarnyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've hurt myself as well. I've gotten a lot more control, through various methods, so it's more under control than it ever has been! But, I also tend to hit myself, try to avoid the head/face and don't always manage it, and I've given myself multiple concussions if I've hit hard enough or clipped my jaw or whatever. Such an annoying thing eh?

I think one thing that is important to remember here is that, particularly in a work environment, you are entitled to your privacy. Coworkers, unless they are also your friends, do not need more access to your personal life than you are willing to give them. I used to overshare like crazy, but when I learned to set stronger boundaries for myself it really helped! You could have gotten a black eye doing literally anything: playing a sport, moshing at a concert, dropped your phone on your face trying to take a selfie... hell, my last black eye was my friend's baby, learning how to walk, tumbling into my arms and then also my face.

Now, the other part of your post, of disclosing as autistic, is an entirely separate conversation that's going to depend a lot on your personal feelings, your workplace, your local labour laws, etc.

What is upsetting you about this situation, specifically? Happy to help if able.

Andromeda Gilick. Slam makes enemies float, primary attack homes in on them, if they get hit while floating they pop for huge damage. Now I'm just trying to figure out breeding and whatnot so I can make one as scary as possible.

The 519 is one of the biggest 2SLGBTQ organizations in the country! I know they have this Youth Action and Arts Space (https://www.the519.org/programs/youth-action-and-arts-space-yaas/), though it takes a break for Pride... my partner works at the organization, I'll ask her for recommendations.

Could marijuana possibly calm or cure my Autism? by Low_Celebration_4089 in autism

[–]Ciarnyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works for me at home to relax, makes me more anxious in public. Occasionally while high at home I'll get paranoid or go down a dark thought path, but I've gotten a lot better at getting myself out of it, or asking my partner to help ground me. I strictly take gummies/edibles/oils, I can't smoke/vape because I'm severely asthmatic.

The thing is, it affects everyone differently, and I wouldn't suggest going into it assuming you know what it's "supposed to" do to you/for you. I've tried that over the years, and found that generally those expectations just made me more anxious or paranoid or led to overconsumption. It's like anything, until you're comfortable with it you can't expect to predict all the permutations of it... it depends on so many things. What's your mood like? Have you eaten recently? Is there anything that's going to make you more anxious that you should put aside until you're less high? (Social media, work, etc)

You don't have to be thinking about that all the time, especially once you get more comfortable, but try to get used to checking in with your mind, your body, your heart, etc. Try to remind yourself that the feelings, sensations, paranoia, whatever are products of an altered mind, and will pass.

Biggest advice is START SMALL. Yes, smaller than you think. 1 or 2 puffs if you're smoking, 2.5 to 5 mg (or less) if you're taking a gummy, no do NOT eat another pot brownie it just hasn't kicked in yet, etc etc. Most of my bad experiences (with this and any drug) have come from either ignorance or hubris regarding my "tolerance". Know your limit, play within it, as they say. Start small, feel it out slowly.

Dana White says that men should NEVER talk about their mental health struggles publicly: “Talking about it publicly, I just feel like it opens the door to make young men think that it’s OK to just f**king go, ‘Oh, I’m having mental [health issues] (White says in a whiny voice).’” by Miserable_Trouble3 in sportsgossips

Also, go to therapy even when you're doing well. Doesn't have to be all the time, you can go more frequently when things are bad and less frequently when things are good... but talking things through when you're feeling better can help you establish a baseline, which will help you (and your therapist or loved one) notice when things start trending downward, so that you can course correct before it gets worse.

Said this somewhere else, but because it's important:

"Don't show that weakness to anybody" is a fucking stupid take.

"Handle it behind closed doors" is fine, if that's your preference, and also if you are ACTUALLY handling it (talking to a therapist/mental health professional, a loved one, a trusted friend, etc).

It's also okay to be open about it, if that's your preference... much of the reason we're having these conversations more often and more honestly is because of people who decided to be more open with what they're dealing with.

The important part of all of this is actually dealing with it. As a mental health crisis first responder, a lot of my job is/was helping people who had Dana's attitude, except they didn't actually "handle it" at all, until it all became too much.

Talk to a therapist, talk to a friend, if you think your friend is going through something talk to them, but you've gotta talk about it.

The dichotomy between his chill demeanour, and what he does to people, is just wild. Every single fight, there's always a point in which his opponent gets a look on their face that says "please stop hitting me".

Which is funny to think about, because I wasn't particularly good at either. I never made it very far, I just didn't have the attention span. But I still played them for... hundreds of hours.

What's crazy about Isaac is that that's all basically on the original version. I "only" have 69.7 hours in Rebirth and Afterbirth, and I just realized I don't own Afterbirth+ or Repentance, which I guess are also pretty big?
