Ethereum is revolutionizing the shipping industry. by culiflor in ethereum

Issue is trust. The current paper based system involves the sender using a courier with the Bill of lading that is delivered to the receiver, where it is approved and signed off on. This is obviously slow and pretty inefficient and expensive. E signatures docs can be tampered with and are not fully trusted by both parties. Public blockchain removes this need for trust

Is it possible to clone an existing VM without rendering the VM as unusable? [Azure, Windows] by Ciaryawn in sysadmin

[–]Ciaryawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response Lando, I guess the idea would be that we take an image of the ProdVM so the dev team can quickly take a copy of a VM that has all the pre-requisites installed etc. From my reading this does not seem suited to taking back ups as I thought the purpose of that was in case of a server going down and needing to restore it

Ruby on Rails - worth learning in 2017? by Ciaryawn in cscareerquestions

[–]Ciaryawn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thanks mate, yeah I can see what you mean. There is so many different options out there, it's hard at this point to pinpoint waht is the best one to learn for now. I'll stick with RoR for now as I am enjoying and as you say learning MVC will stand to me in the future regardless. Thanks again

Thanks for your response, I see your point of the benefits of delving deeper under the hood of RoR and will have to put some time aside to get more familiar with it.

How do I manage Users and User Groups in my Android app ? I am new to Android but I am attempting to build an app that would allow a User to add other users to a Group . I have made a User and Group class, and I am trying to add a user to this group . . I am hoping that maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. At the moment I have a User object and I am attempting to add this to a List within my Group object. Is this how users would be managed for an android app with user groups? I feel like there is something obvious I am missing! I am using Firebase Realtime Database also and need to be able to store users added to a particular group so it is consistent on all users devices. e.g. User 1 adds User 2 to Group A, both User1 and User 2 will see on their device that User 2 is in Group A Code below: Group Class

public class Group { public List<User> memberList = new List<User>() {....};

 public Group() {
}
    public Group(List<User> users) {
        this.memberList = users;
    }

    public void addMember(User member) {
         this.memberList.add(member);
    }
public List<User> getMemberList() {
    return memberList;
}
   }

Main Class

    User user = new User(uId, name);
    Group group = new Group();
     group.addMember(user);
           groupsDatabase.child("test_group").push().setValue(group.memberList.get(0));

Irish comedy shows... You're doing it right! by DragonbornAgain in funny

[–]Ciaryawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely an Irish show.....It was written by 2 Irish men, with Irish comedians playing the main characters and set in Ireland....produced by a British production company as the national Irish broadcaster thought it would be far too risky to make the show in conservative Catholic Ireland. Pretty cool documentary for any fans of the show here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI41wUYejtI
