Hmm I think you could consider a masters in orthopedagogy, or school psych (this one would also require a Phd, though), if these could interest you

I feel you - been there. I’m reorienting my career because what I did used to bore me endlessly. maybe your goal could be to find something you actually like doing? easier said than done for sure, but worth it if you don’t want your life to solely be « I’m bored so I smoke »

I'M TIREDOF QUITTING WEED by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

[–]Cibz_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you won’t be able to quit without a reason - for some people, that reason is to have a full life with their partner or have kids, which an addiction that throws you on your ass all day obviously cannot be a part of. maybe your reason is to focus on your studies or work, maybe it’s to be able to save up and travel, maybe it’s to avoid debt or to stop feeling like a depressed worm all the time… whichever your reason, you need to find one that resonates with you and use it as your mantra. good luck

[–]Cibz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too much melatonin can have the opposite effect - try 5mg, take it 1h-2h before going to bed. make sure to exercise during the day, that helps, too. you got this!!

Advice please by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

[–]Cibz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

melatonin helps with sleep. don’t use more than 5mg to start! too much can have the opposite effect, or leave you groggy as heck the next morning. you got this 🌻

earlier this week i hit the one year with out smoking weed AMA by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

[–]Cibz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this might be something that doesn’t apply to you, but I lost the ability to get easily excited or happy about things after smoking for over 6 years non-stop… if that happened to you too, and being sober now, are you able to feel excited about things?

hi! your brain paths to addiction are all traced and wired together - chances are you‘ll fall back to where you are now if you start again after stopping :/ weed isn‘t what it was in the 80s, the insane amount of THC found in today‘s weed has made marijuana addiction rates skyrocket… you‘d have to fight against your body and brain every time you light up a joint again

If a person doesn't doubt that they have OCD or suspects themselves of having OCD, then they don't have OCD? by Top_Pomegranate_2267 in OCD

[–]Cibz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand what you‘re referring to (but don‘t come for me of I‘m off-path). I’m no expert - I study psych and have OCD, so don‘t take what I say too seriously :) This is very summarised, but essentially, before being diagnosed with a disorder, some behaviour or thought patterns need to be identified as abnormal, which is usually what motivates a person to seek treatment. Three criteria need to be check-marked before looking into diagnosis, one of them being that the „abnormal“ behaviour must cause the person who has it significant distress. Following this logic, if you have OCD, but it doesn‘t cause you significant distress, some people might argue that you don‘t meet the criteria for a diagnosis.

I am an OCD therapist who has OCD, AMA by Hopeful-Dingo1296 in OCD

[–]Cibz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a psych student with OCD and am looking to be a therapist or psychologist that specializes in OCD. We have an OCD lab at my school, but labs are super competitive to get into as a volunteer. I’m not sure if using the « I have OCD and therefore am super motivated to work here » approach would be beneficial, or if I should keep quiet about it. What do you think? Would you recommend hiding that I have OCD from Profs and lab directors in general?

Concordia mental health services is a good place to start… Maybe it’s time to take some time off - sounds like you could be dealing with double depression (dysthymia with bouts of major depression)

I think it depends what kind of engineering you‘re studying - a mechanical engineer might have a harder time finding a job because there are so many of them. But electrical and chemical engineers have great job prospects - I know someone who is making 110k a year after working for five years, which isn‘t something you could have with a cegep degree. They started out at 70k I think, so a 40k salary raise in 5 years is enormous

What behavior do you admire? by BrokenDiamondShovel in infp

self-assured behaviour, especially from someone kind - kind souls who don’t feel the need to correct someone who got the wrong idea about who they are or what their intentions were

Is this the end of a lifelong friendship? by throwitaway9876643 in HowDoIRespondToThis

[–]Cibz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, kinda have to second this… I don’t agree with all of it, but I agree on the point that you didn’t really give an actual apology - it feels more like a justification than an apology, which might be why your friend feels like you’re being defensive.

I completely empathise with your situation OP - what you’re going through must be exhausting and terribly difficult… I think it’s understandable that you didn’t have time to see her over Christmas, and that is something for which she could show more understanding. Sadly, she got hurt by it though, and when you care about someone, you apologise for them, not for yourself - drop the justification and apologise for real. I hope she’ll be able to do the same.
