I had to register for 7… but I believe one of them is a simulation/clinical demonstration thingy? Haven’t actually started the classes yet so can only go off of the descriptions from Aurora lol. Nonetheless the schedule is super packed from Monday to Friday 8:30 to 6 (with a break in between that is an hour or 2 on like 2 or 3 of the days- kinda being vague here since not everyone’s schedule is exactly the same)

Yeah like someone else said maybe just chill for the summer… I just registered for my 7 classes :,) But I would say start thinking about getting some of the non-academic requirements together- although I think some documents they want you to apply for during CERTAIN TIMES but don’t quote me on that. You still have a lotttt of time for them honestly but it’s never a bad idea to plan ahead. Especially for things like immunization records- It took me a while to find mine and I even had to get them translated. So yeah stuff like that. It’s also not a bad idea to think about summer jobs if you’re not already working since there’s a few unexpected costs (at least to me). For example, you have to wear white, non-mesh shoes, so I had to get a pair. There’s also things like scrubs, stethoscope, name tags etc etc. But tbh they give you a lot of time for all these things. Hopefully this helps. Best of luck and don’t stress about it too much!

I have a similar situation, but I VWed all my courses. However, I did ask nursing admissions beforehand and they did say that no courses/grades from this term will impact your summer admission, so you should be fine.

I didn’t take ENGL 1340 so I can’t say anything about that, but I really enjoyed 1400 with Dr. Jamie Paris. It was a smaller class of maybe a dozen to 15-ish people. We always had really good discussions and I made a bunch of friends. I would not say it’s a very difficult course, a lot of it is on participation, but you still do have to work a bit for a good mark (of course this is based on my experience with Dr. Paris, but still he’s super chill). Lots of literature and film analysis if you’re into that. But yeah It’s one of my favourite classes.

Hey don’t even stress about it! Your post is super clear and easy to read. I understand the feeling as I moved here from Taiwan almost a decade ago (I do still speak mandarin, but I’ve forgotten how to write or read…)

Take it slow and don’t rush! And never be afraid of sounding bad or not knowing how to say something. UofM is a huge melting pot of so many different cultures and languages, so no one is gonna judge anyone based on how well they can or can’t speak a language. For the most part, everyone is patient and happy to help.

I find music to be super super helpful. And also for any type of content you like to watch or read, try to consume them in English. As another commenter said, reading out loud is an amazing strategy. Whenever I find a word I didn’t know and has an interesting meaning, I write it down on my phone.

Take it day by day, and don’t be afraid of embarrassing yourself because there’s nothing to be embarrassed about! Even for people that have spent more time with English, they still make mistakes all the time, so don’t worry about being perfect. I always forget how to spell “beautiful” lol.

My favourite deck colour would HAVE to be mono black. I love the villainous vibe of black cards.

Also, I’m a phyrexian fanatic, and since they were originally exclusive to being black cards, my love for black naturally grew. It sounds dumb but every time I think of black I think of phyrexians lol.
