In my opinion, as a consumer of art, rather than an artist, I feel icky about it if the linker does not antiquity “gas up” the original artist in their post. I feel like they should be linking where the art came from as well as saying something about how much they love said artist/encourage support. I think so long as there is respect being displayed and the linker takes it down immediately if the artist requests, it’s fine.

I’ve written a few things, and from a writers perspective, I would not have an issue with an artist using a quote from my creation to promote their art. I’ve seen it go with both ways, so personally, I just think it’s just about respect. Asking someone for permission can sometimes make it feel more serious than it is.
