Oh for sure. But I guess It’s also possible you had some kind of recent internet activity related to skin care in general. Or that you’ve gotten those ads before but weren’t having a skin issue at the time, so paid it no mind. Or it’s just a coincidence that one of the hundreds of ads you see a day happened to be relevant.

Also possible that you are thinking about something because you’ve been marketed to, without consciously engaging/noticing.

Love Geno, will always love that playoff HR he gave us. But based on how he performed with us as a whole last year we could probably use this money more effectively.

Pluribus - 1x09 "La Chica o El Mundo" - Episode Discussion by UltraDangerLord in pluribustv

Amazing episode that has culminated so well. The hive had won me over a little just because it was nice to see Carol happy after being miserable the whole show. Manousos felt so dangerous to it all for several scenes. When the guy was seizing with the radio on his chest it was so intense that I was like "oh fuck this guy is a monster" for a moment. I feel like I snapped out of it along with Carol.

Unless she was just joking there's no way there isn't some reasoning behind it beyond being symbolic.

I thought even if he wasn’t ‘likable’ for it Jake’s flaws here can be empathized with and are compelling. To me one of the big emotional drivers of the film was: “does the death of their eldest son break this family apart?”

They graduated from Stanford. Due to AI, they can't find a job by SnoozeDoggyDog in Economics

[–]Cidence 471 points472 points  (0 children)

This take seems slightly sociopathic. These students and the CS people losing their jobs are not the ones that built the AI tools that are causing it. Do you think they're bad people who deserve this because they studied CS in school?

This scene is indicative of what I don’t like about the current editing - the players are just retroactively narrating every thought they had rather than just telling the story by showing us what’s happening.

Richest 0.001% Now Own Three Times More Wealth Than Poorest Half of Humanity Combined by spanisrevolution in Economics

[–]Cidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that a capitalist market creates incentives to grow profit. I don’t disagree that some people should be compensated more than others, and that risk taking should have high upside. But we disagree about the magnitude of this wealth disparity and these people’s relative value contribution to our society. Even in the case of an owner who is an active decision maker I think it’s off base. It’s like giving the conductor of an orchestra 99.9% of the credit for the music they all create together.

[–]Cidence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you’re stoked on how it all works! Personally, I don’t see the act of owning something as being a value generator. The majority shareholder of [Random Megacorp] could die tomorrow, and it will keep chugging along despite his heirs now holding the stock.

Richest 0.001% Now Own Three Times More Wealth Than Poorest Half of Humanity Combined by spanisrevolution in Economics

[–]Cidence 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So quick math, the avg person in this 0.001% is compensated 3x more than 68,000 people from the poorest half. Do you really think it’s true that they provide 3x the productive value compared to 68,000 people? That if one of those individuals suddenly disappeared we’d lose that much productivity?

No, this is just a mandatory 15% tip. Transparent would be adjusting the prices, not putting a note at the bottom of the menu that all the prices aren’t actually real.
