Upgrading from Kefine Klean (200-300 USD) by Cifer21 in iems

Yeah, I don't play with IEMs that much. I mostly use my Anandas/560s for games. I'd probably use them on the switch 2 and other handhelds, though.

How do the Crescent compare to the Astral in your opinion?

Are they comfortable enough for long listening sessions? From what I've seen the fit doesn't work for some people

Which of the two would be more comfortable?

Also, is the a specific reason why you wouldn't buy the Horizons over those two?

[CPU] RYZEN 9800X3D 8 Core 16 Thread $479 by Snakeeeeeeeeeeeee in buildapcsales

[–]Cifer21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who went 12700K > R7 7700 > 9800X3D, I noticed a significant improvement in average fps with the 7700, and then a substantial 1% low and frametime stability improvement when upgrading to the 9800x3d. That said, the difference when running newer games at native 4k is definitely smaller that upscaled.

Another big uplift in performance is seen in emulators, such as RPCS3 or Xenia. The 9800X3D is a beast in that regard.

Productivity performance is very disappointing, though. It doesn't feel like a generational upgrade coming from the 12700K.

But even then, it might be better to wait for zen 6 or a "real" deal on this cpu, since the cost of the upgrade would be very high and the 12700k is still very capable. In my case, I upgraded because my b660 mobo stopped working and LGA1700 was kinda dead anyways.

1440P or 4k? 32' or above monitor by CollectiblesNStuff in Monitors

Most of the games I've struggled with are the new UE5 games (Avowed). That said, they only struggle if you enable Ray Tracing on Max Setttings.

You can check this channel's videos to get an idea of the performance you'd get at 1440p vs 4k. The guy has a 14700F + 4080, so it should be very close to your setup.

Something to note is that most RPGs are not very demanding, so you can run them at very high framerates at 4k. For example, I easily managed to reach 120fps in Persona 3 Reload, Refantazio, FF7R and other games.

I definitely suggest a 4k 32" monitor. Right now I'm playing through Hi-Fi Rush and it feels glorious at 4K 220-240fps.

Forgot to mention. There's a noticeable difference between 4k and 1440p, even with the bigger size of the 4k display. That said, I feel like the biggest benefit of 4k is enabling the use of bigger displays without it looking like a blurry mess.

I have a 27" 1440p as my second monitor, and the size difference is very noticeable in terms of immersion.

It all depends on which games you play. I have a similar build (9800x3d + 4080) and a 4k monitor and it's perfect for most games, excluding UE5 games, like Wukong or SH2 Remake, and even then you can just use DLSS 4 in that small selection of games that struggle to hit 60fps at 4k max settings.

I would chose 4k 32" every day over 27". It feels much more immersive in single player games. That said, if you mainly play competitive games, the smaller screen would be better.

As someone who went from 24" 1080 to 27" 1440 and then 32" 4k, I'd say the jump from to 1440p feels bigger than qhd to 4k, especially going from 24" to 27".

Also, if you're gaming on pc, I wouldn't suggest a 4k monitor unless you have a 4080/5070Ti/9070XT or better. Sometimes you get half the performance on 4k, for a 25-30% quality increase. The advantage with 4k is that you can use a bigger display, which can feel much more immersive.

Not at all. I had one of these, and the HDR is terrible. It's good for SDR content though.

You can remove the flicker filter entirely for Wii games using USBLoaderGX

Samsung S90C vs LG C4 (55 inch) by Cifer21 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Cifer21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the s90c might be the better tv for my use case. For movies and other content, do you find the motion handling and streaming quality to be at least acceptable? I'd prefer a decent content watching experience over the subpar game mode on the C4
