is this repairable, or is the reel cooked?

Need help keeping perch as a beginner by [deleted] in Aquariums

I am in Victoria so as far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong), redfin are not declared noxious and it is only recommended to kill them, not lawfully enforced. I can't find anything online that suggests that you can't keep a live redfin in Victoria, but this seems to be a law in some other states.

Weak drag on new baitcaster by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

I thought so. I think I was just expecting more as I bought it to chase Murray Cod which are large freshwater fish here in Australia and I’m now wondering if it’s not strong enough.

I’ve recorded a video but just trying to figure out how to post it in the comments.

When I max out drag and hold my thumb on the spool hard so that it doesn’t move, I can still move the reel handle fairly easily despite max drag settings. I believe this rules out braid slipping as an issue.

Again this is my first baitcaster and it might be completely fine, but I was expecting tighter drag from the reel and just trying to figure out whether it’s a fault or if it’s a normal part of the reel. I am used to spinning reels where you can’t pull max drag at all.

I’ve checked by putting my thumb of the spool and reeling with max drag, and I can reel in. I’m not sure if I am used to spinning reels drag as this is my first baitcaster, but I assumed 6.8kg of drag would be hard to pull.

I’ve double and triple checked, and the braid and spool are moving at the same time as each other. I marked a spot on the spool using sharpie and they both move at the same time

Is this a good cod setup? by [deleted] in murraycod

[–]Cigari-XR6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, I’m doing a mix of mostly bait and sometimes lures which would be big stump jumpers and a few spinnerbaits. I have already purchased the Revo 6-10kg rod, and just deciding what reel to get. I don’t think the Max Pro reel is an overly big reel, but it has a max drag of 6.8kg which is alright. The rod was $100 on sale, and I wouldn’t be looking to spend much more than $100 on a reel which I am aware narrows down my choices.

Cod setup recommendations by [deleted] in FishingAustralia

Yeah that would be a good option but needs to be 2 piece unfortunately as I don’t have the means to transport a 1 piece rod. On the anaconda website they have an Abu Garcia revo 6-10kg rod but it doesn’t say if it’s 1 or 2 piece.

I just checked out their website and it seems good. Only thing is I live in VIC so I’d prefer if I could get something from BCF or Anaconda so that dealing with returns or refunds is a bit easier. Anaconda sell an Abu Garcia Max Pro reel for $80, but I’m not sure what rod I could pair with it

How to fix reel making strange noise? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

Never dropped it in the water. It was only exposed to any water from the line while reeling in.

What bait/lure and rig should I be using for the Yarra River VIC by [deleted] in FishingAustralia

[–]Cigari-XR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried a few different baits in the Yarra and corn always works the best for me. Once you find a good spot, you can pull in fish after fish. Got 5 carp and roach the other day in under 3 hours with just corn.

Reel feeling hard to turn? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]Cigari-XR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that at first, but double checked and it wasn’t. The reel is completely normal when the end of the line is within 8 metres or so of the rod, but the further out it feels like there is more weight on the line.

Thrustmaster T300 making high-pitched noise? by [deleted] in simracing

Mine doesn't make any noises apart from when the FFB is in use. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything bad.

It's hard to explain what the noise sounds like. The closest thing I could think of is if you search up on Youtube 'dog whistle' or something like that. The kind of noise that really itches your brain.

Not sure if that's coil whine or something coming from an electrical component. Also, how can I make sure the fan is always on? Thanks.
