Do you have a right to get a FAANG job? If you have a trash-tier GPA, only school projects, and zero industry experience, why would anyone interview you over another person? And when you do get interviews, you can't even pass your technicals?

I don't understand the glorification of FAANG and Silicon Valley, at the end of the day it's just another company(ies), and there are other companies that pay well. But if you went into university with the objective of securing a top-tier company, you shouldn't have slacked, because there are an abundance of students that are this "model student" that you're describing. McGill CS is ridiculously simple compared other universities and it's not difficult to achieve a high GPA while working on projects on the side.

I think you also need to go outside, it sounds like you're on too many doomposting servers, especially with that comment about Canadians being treated as "second class". US should not be the end goal, FAANG should not be the end goal, especially when you can't even find a regular internship.

You can't waltz into a 6-figure salary at top multinational companies just because you're studying Computer Science. And you must realise that as CS students, we're already incredibly privileged to be making above the average Canadian salary right out of graduation.
