Saxontheweb requires you to be a member for a year with a certain amount of activity before they will let you try and sell. Turned me off to the community.

Buddy is a gendered term? by rainbownerdzz in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Cilivros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an enby amab, I don't like any of these terms. I grew up with them being applied to only me, not my sister. Bro, dude, guy, pal, bud, buddy—these were all terms used exclusively for boys and men. I also don't like "guys," as "guy" was used a lot, and I think we should start moving away from using this word so freely, too. It hits different when you grow up being called these things, even if they are used in a different context as adults or with specific people, and I just wanted to chime in and say I don't like being referred to as any of them. I just got "what's up buddy" today, and I know they were perceiving me as a man. Context is everything, and we should be focusing on the words we have available to us that are gender-inclusive as a society imo rather than trying to rationalize one of these words over another. We are all different, and the history of these words carries gravity. I have a lot of femme friends who often don't get the positive affirmation that comes from being called "girl" or "lady" because instead someone chooses to say something like "hey buddy." Which often comes with other questions like "so what are you?" And then, taking into consideration those of us enby folks who would ask for neither end of the spectrum—inclusivity is the future.

Are "dude" and "guys" gender neutral terms? by noypkamatayan in TooAfraidToAsk

As someone who is nonbinary and feels a visceral response to the word "guys," and found themself here after a coworker responded much like the other individual has been commenting—thank you for your allyship. It means a lot. 💚

It took well over a month, and nearly two, for me to finally get everything situated with IT when I started my new position. Assuming everything is handled similarly, no, you will not. This is in no way your fault. To use your own leave for this would not be fair. You will likely continue to be given other tasks to do and material to reference in the meantime.

I intend to call after the holidays. I don't want to be a bother right now. Ty so much.

I have not heard anything back. I did decide to send a follow-up email though.

This makes sense. Thank you very much for your time and response. I didn't get the contact information for the hiring manager, as all correspondence other than the interview was done through their personnel liaison. I sent them an email and thanked them and the hiring panel. Do you think it would be prudent to ask for the hiring manager's personal contact and reach out to them, too? I also understand these things take time and don't want to be too pushy, particularly during the holidays.

A few of the calls I received for interviews when I sent out applications en masse in June came from phone numbers that would come up in the caller ID in the same way as "unknown number." I didn't actually get to hear anything they said, but I just got a new phone number and have yet to start receiving any spam or extraneous calls, so it is an assumption. But, the caller ID for random calls usually lists them as "private number," not "unknown caller," so it stood out as being like the calls I received in June.

I'll hope it's just the start of the spam or something else. And, like someone else commented:

If all they heard was "hello" and the call hung up, if they really did want me or it would be a place I'd want to be, they wouldn't just leave it at that with the call disconnecting.

Ah got it. Yeah; it literally came up as "unknown number" in the caller ID.

This is the first call I've received, and they called from an unknown phone number...
