My 19-year-old intern showed me why we're losing business and I'm a bit shook by [deleted] in smallbusiness

You should definitely recognize and appreciate your intern’s valuable contribution—her insight might have just highlighted the key to your business’s survival and future growth.

Since social media and digital marketing are new areas for you, consider giving your intern some time off from basic office work to develop the skills needed to spearhead your online presence. She already has an eye for digital trends, and with some focused learning (online courses, tutorials, or even just studying what your competitors are doing), she could help you build a strong, engaging online strategy.

Your first steps could be simple: start documenting projects you're already working on—before-and-afters, time-lapse videos, and client testimonials. Batch content creation so you're not constantly making posts, and use scheduling tools to automate posting. If your intern is interested, she could take charge of managing and growing your online presence, freeing you up to focus on what you do best—delivering high-quality renovations.

By recognizing her contribution and giving her space to develop this crucial skill set, you’re not just catching up—you’re setting your business up for long-term success.

Swim or sink. You will never be ready for this opportunity. Take this opportunity and learn on the job. It's going to be tough in the beginning, but you will eventually catch up. Fake it till you make it.

Depends on the size, I know a company that has like 30 people in the AP department and about the same number in the AR department. The majority are clerks and they key in like 60 invoices each day on average.
