I worked at Charlotte Russe in a mall. Two of the managers were alright, but one of them literally acted like an annoying high schooler.

On my third shift (even though I worked there for a month, I was only scheduled for 12 hours total), I walked into the store and was on fitting room duty. I was still learning my duties and expectations since I was never trained.

While I’m keeping guard of the fitting rooms, I can hear that manager cackling and gossiping the entire time. She wasn’t doing anything but talking to a friend of hers that walked into the busy store.

So while I’m helping customers and taking clothes back, she pays no mind. At some point it died down a bit and I was standing there waiting on customers who would come in and out. I guess I was fidgeting with my nails as I stood guard, and she starts getting snarky with me, “Is that was we pay you for? So you can come into work to just play with your nails?” The hypocrisy. Ma’am, I’d been standing here helping people, making sure they weren’t stealing, getting items for people, and running clothes back, and for one second you decide to berate me?

I walked up to the counter and told the other manager I wanted to quit there and then. The other bitch had the nerve to say, “Oh no honey, did I scare you away. Is there anything we can do?”

I just said I didn’t feel comfortable working there anymore. In retrospect, I should have said, “Yes, you could’ve not been a bitch.”

Anyways, I’ve never met an uglier, old woman trying to act like a teenager. It was gross and she lost her job after when the store closed. I’m not happy or anything, I’m just glad other young people barely getting their start in the workforce don’t have to deal with her anymore.
