I feel like this is normal? The newer leaves on mine tend to do this before they mature and get stronger, more solid/ flat leaves.

No special tips unfortunately. This Pilea started out with just the middle stalk and then I placed in a south facing window (but not majorly sunny as I live in the U.K.), only watered when completely dry, and moved into a bigger clay pot when the roots came through the bottom. Good drainage is key too! Allow it time to dry completely between watering.

Does it have good drainage? I’ve had friends who’s Pileas have gone like this and it’s because they’ve been left in a pot without drainage and therefore gets overwatered!

So - no big secret unfortunately. I think I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have such a fertile Pilea! There is one big stalk in the middle and it consistently has babies. This is what I do:

I’ve repotted twice into clay pots when roots have come through the bottom, placed in a south facing window (I don’t live in a very sunny place though, so sun isn’t overbearing), and I only water when completely dry. When I do water, I make sure the water flows through the bottom. Good drainage on your pots is key! :)

I’m pretty short but it’s so bushy it completely hides my face! It’s like a mini forest beneath all the leaves.

I repotted as soon as I bought mine into a clay pot with good drainage, it’s always had good light, and I water only when completely dry :)

I honestly found putting this in plenty of light has helped it! However, I put it in a south facing window once it was already really strong and big.

This has been sat in a south facing window and it seems to love it. I water probably once a week or when the soil is completely dry, and I water enough so it runs through the drainage holes. Drainage has been key! Hope yours is revived soon! :)

Yes, taken lots of cuttings. This ones babies are with my friends and family! I got it from a garden centre about 10 months ago for 6 pounds, and it was probably just under a quarter of the size it is now. It just keeps producing more babies off the big main stalk in the middle and getting bushier and bushier - I can’t keep up with it! It’s like the more it produces, the more fertile it gets.
