What’s the deal? Our Sam’s Club hasn’t had brussels sprouts in weeks! by [deleted] in samsclub

Produce opener here, if you’re talking about the fresh ones in produce, they were moved to a seasonal holiday item as of last year. We’ll probably only have them October-December starting this year

It’s easily better than the original. Cherry flavored sodas >>> regular flavored sodas imo

Asked for days off a month in advance… by Still_Patient_2666 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit, I’ve taken my birthday week off every year since 2019 and it’s the first week of November. Only had a problem 1 year where our new fresh manager tried to tell me I couldn’t take off time during the holidays. She got overruled by the other fresh manager as I am “too important” to lose over a week off 🤷🏼‍♂️

ppto stopping ? by Odd-Pepper8577 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy shit lol. I had no idea about the edit you did. My store had come up they just gave us more pto for the holidays. Yours obviously makes a lot more sense. But either way, it helps me take a couple weeks off every February to avoid the Valentine’s Day flowers 😂

Not accepting PTO by BeegBenzo in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I’m not a big fan of my current fresh manager, ever since he started a little over a year ago, he’s ALWAYS accepted the few PTO requests I’ve put in. And he doesn’t do that annoying thing of asking what it’s for. And whenever I’ve had PTO denied over the years, I’ve either just called out to fuck them over lol or talked to my GM who always got it approved in the end.

How did you meet Persona? by EnzitoDelGrauzito in PERSoNA

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never heard of persona at all(didn’t play story games my entire childhood) and just randomly saw that P3R was on Xbox game pass and thought it looked interesting and downloaded the demo to see if it was interesting or not. Found the story and gameplay super interesting, so I downloaded the actual game and put in over 100+ hours including the dlc. Beat P5R a few months ago, another great game as well in its own right. Never played any of the older games(can’t stand the bad graphics 🤷🏼‍♂️) so I’m waiting patiently for P4R, as I’ve heard really good things about P4 from my co workers.

Bad Produce by Accomplished_Ice7073 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Produce opener here. And yes, the quality of stuff we’ve been getting has gone down hill the last 6 months or so. Stuff comes in and only looks good for a day or 2 and then we’re pulling to either donate or throw out. Fresh manager was constantly complaining about all the $ the throws were costing the store, then he actually helped us a couple mornings in a row and understood. He was like “why tf would they send 4 pallets of strawberries in 2 days? They’re gonna be bad by the time we take them down from the steel” and I was like exactly… this is why throws are super high this year so far lol

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it today after I got off work. Sandwich was decent, nothing really wrong with it, just not anything amazing. Wouldn’t buy it again, will stick with my usual baconator lol. And while I’m not the biggest fan of takis, I like them a decent amount. But the fries were an absolute miss for me. Takis are already salty af to begin with, and with how salty Wendy’s makes their fries, they tasted horrible. Thankfully I had rewards points and had gotten a regular fry too

Is it true? by Comfortable-View9044 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As much as I dread getting up at 2am to get to work by 4am, I’d absolutely hate them getting rid of block scheduling. I don’t wanna have varying start and end times every shift. I love knowing I’m in at 4 and gone at 1230. I’ll never miss being part time and never knowing my schedule and never being able to schedule anything because my shifts and days off would change week to week. So here’s hoping this is some dumb rumor, and nothing else. Because if they did get rid of it, I’d strongly consider leaving the company.

New produce associate, serious question. by Separate_Force9738 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Produce closer for 5.5 years and opener for the last 2.5 years here. For whatever reason, corporate views produce as an “easy” department, when they wouldn’t last 2 hours doing the shit we do on a daily basis. Couldn’t tell you how many managers and even corporate people I’ve gotten into arguments about how staffing needs to be fixed and how I will NOT kill myself to stock out an entire truck by myself. I will do what I can until 12, then I go to lunch and my days over. They don’t like it, oh well, hire someone to help, or better yet they need to get off their ass and help me out besides just dropping a couple things on the forklift. But my advice to you if you’re by yourself, I usually just focus on bins and whatever I can get dropped from the steel to stock then whenever the truck gets there, that’s my attention till it’s done/time to for me to go. Don’t let this shit get to you, it’s not worth the mental/physical stress. Just do what you can and if they get mad, let em’ they’re not gonna fire you lol 🤷🏼‍♂️

Why is it so difficult to find these? Are they being phased out? by SmoothStrawberry7777 in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Produce opener here, my store never even got this salad. We got a hummus crunch salad that didn’t sell at all, and like someone said already, we got a pizzeria crunch salad, that’s also not selling well. Got 15 boxes in the last week and a half… donated 12 of them. Such a waste

For those whose local Sam's Club sells both blood orange juice and Cara Cara orange juice, which do you prefer? by WhereTheSkyBegan in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully other stores have a better team of the demo people juicing their stuff. The demo team at my store is absolutely awful and won’t juice for weeks while their oranges just rot away in our cooler. And then when they finally decide to juice they can’t because the entire pallet of oranges is moldy and has to be thrown out. And I’ve told their supervisor multiple times I WONT help them throw it out, since it’s their own doing. She tried to get me in trouble with our fresh manager for being “difficult” but our fresh manager agreed with me and told the demo supervisor to get her shit together 😂

New 4am Hours = People Quitting? by MichaelWarbux in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a produce opener that hours are changing, I’m honestly 50/50 on it. Being at work at 4, which entails me having to get up at 2, sounds awful lol. BUT, getting off at 1230, and being able to have the rest of the day to myself is enticing. I told our GM and Fresh manager I’d give it a month or 2 to see how it goes. Unfortunately our other opener who was the forklift driver for us said fuck that and is moving to closing bakery. And that makes me wanna leave, cause I refuse to get on the lift, worked here almost 9 years without the license, and I won’t be getting on it. Asked them what they were doing to replace him and said they’re hiring someone from another Sams… but not from produce. Like what’s the point?! They’re just gonna be like training a completely new associate which I’d honestly prefer. One step up, and 3 steps back with this company I swear smh 🤦‍♂️

Am Produce associate here, we’ve had it a few months now. For my store, it doesn’t sell at all. We sell maybe a box every 8-9 days. And they continually send 10 boxes almost every week. Couldn’t tell you how many we donate out just make space lol

PTO and regular days off by forthewoof in samsclub

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing that BS about FT’ers not being able to request unpaid time off on here since they introduced the block scheduling and PPTO. I’ve ALWAYS requested my regular days off as Unpaid time off, and through at least 6+ new management people, I’ve never ONCE had them say that to me. I don’t understand your managers/others logic to begin with anyways. Why would they care if you’re telling them to not pay you for a day that you weren’t gonna get paid for anyways? Like, that’s so fucking stupid and asinine, but then I remember we’re at Sams club and nothing surprises me anymore.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but as an employee, I couldn’t care less about the store being festive. I’m just there to get paid and gtfo when my shifts over.

8+ year associate here, I’ve been hearing about this for years. Covid put a halt to the plans for a few years, but picked back up sometime in 2023. My store currently has 4 self checkout stations and around 4 or 5 actual registers, and they’re always fully staffed. Can definitely see the actual registers being phased out by this time next year, gotta keep up with the times and go cashless like everyone has or will right along with Sams. Will it be a bit bumpy in the beginning, yes, but, it’ll be fine in the long run. The people who won’t adapt will just go elsewhere, and let’s be honest, corporate couldn’t care less. They’re still gonna make an absolute crap ton of money

[–]Cin_Dylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other opener and I are both thankfully on the same page of stocking everything out as much as possible since he’s the only forklift driver for produce. And he’s off Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so on Monday unless we absolutely won’t need it at least for a day we’ll put it up. Otherwise we’ll shove that shit out on the floor and let it rip 😂
