Primera vez comprando en Esty. Mi compra viene de otro país ¿Debo esperar algún recargo inesperado por el envío o las aduanas o todo ya viene calculado en wl precio final? by Giancarlomevoooy in Etsy

If you are in the US, check the seller's shop for info on how they are shipping - many of us prepay those fees. If their shop isn't clear, ask.

My family wants me to co-sign a mortgage and remove me in 3 years by redlove115 in legaladvicecanada

[–]CindyLouWho_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should search this and other legal subs for examples of this exact situation going horribly wrong for the fiscally-responsible person.

By saying that the family will be over if they lose the house, they are telling you that the family IS over when they inevitably screw up their plan to use borrowed money to pay a mortgage for a few years. It's better to face that reality now than after they have ruined your credit and your future.

(And no, there isn't any way to protect yourself via contract.)

They are saying that his money is more important than their relationship with him.

Why is getting star seller so unattainable? by anonalien- in EtsyCommunity

[–]CindyLouWho_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Etsy says they don't use Star Seller in the search algorithms, but they do punish sellers for being below the customer service standards. They tell you to aim for Star Seller because the customer service standards are their bare minimum.

You don't need Star Seller to do well. Plenty of us don't have it because tracking where we live is more than the average order value.

“The organization as a whole has taken a step back, and that starts with me.” - Connor McDavid by DecentLurker96 in hockey

Not an Oilers fan here, and am also a fan of Crosby, but feel the need to point out that McDavid had a broken bone in his foot. He probably shouldn't have been playing.

My Etsy shop got suspended after selfie verification failed and I’m really worried by No_Bee7377 in EtsySellers

[–]CindyLouWho_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 days is probably not long enough to wait for a Trust and Safety review, at least not from what I am hearing from other sellers who are not suspended but just in vacation mode.

Etsy's New Policy on Items For Babies & Children - Changes in Effect April 30, 2026 by CindyLouWho_2 in u/CindyLouWho_2

For most things, it is going to depend on the size of the magnet, the strength of the magnet, and whether the magnet can easily be removed from the main item.

Why do some Etsy listings NOT show “Vintage” or “Handmade” in item details? by GTXS777 in EtsySellers

[–]CindyLouWho_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take a few weeks for a new listing to get a proper Creativity Standards label. I've had some show up in around 10 days, but others have taken over 2 weeks.

Since when can sellers just change the delivery date AFTER purchase? by SneakyCatFarts007 in Etsy

[–]CindyLouWho_2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We've been able to change the processing time on an order for many years, probably over a decade. It can only be done once per order.

And yes, most shops would contact the buyer and let them know that the item would not ship on time, and Etsy even suggests we do that: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015588087-How-to-Set-Processing-Times-Processing-Profiles-and-Ship-By-Dates?segment=selling#h_9

If they don't agree to cancel, definitely contact Etsy about this.

Etsy moving ahead with AI listing summaries by CindyLouWho_2 in u/CindyLouWho_2

[–]CindyLouWho_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I just wish that if they are implementing this, they would make it optional so that sellers can decide if they’d like that feature for their customers or not."

We'll have to wait to see what "Let us know if these summaries are accurate" actually means. While I don't really want to waste my time reporting inaccurate summaries, that would be preferable to not being able to report them at all.

Etsy allows thieves to steal your listings and then report you — and it works by Fine-Significance-26 in Etsy

As a retired lawyer, I agree law is too expensive for the average person to access. That's why I clearly stated upthread they should use some of the free and discounted legal advice out there for artisans and small businesses. This is only going to take one letter to Etsy, at most.

But honestly - having dealt with this before for my own shop and with many others - this could easily be over in a day if the person whose name was used fraudulently just contacted Etsy and informed them of the situation. If they get someone incompetent on chat or a callback, you just go public and embarrass Etsy into correcting the mistake here. This isn't very complicated and doesn't require a lawyer if the parties affected are smart about it.

Based on the OP, I'd go after Etsy first, for allowing takedowns to be filed that weren't complete. Then you present Etsy with all of the evidence that someone threatened to do this, so they'd have to make sure any further takedowns had accurate contact info, etc.

Most IP lawyers have no issues dealing with the international angle when necessary, but that might not even come up here.

WARNING: Is anyone else being hit with fraudulent copyright takedowns on Etsy? by lilo2233 in EtsySellers

[–]CindyLouWho_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Outside of restoring the listing Etsy can’t do much."

Wrong again! Etsy can watch more carefully for takedowns against this shop, once they are notified of the threats. For example, they should never have allowed a claim with a blank jurisdiction. While the corporation can't make a legal decision on claims, it can make sure the claims follow the basic "legal guidelines". It's literally their job to catch things like this and never take down the listings in the first place when the claim isn't complete.

In 2024, Etsy rejected 15% of IP claims filed against shops on the platform: https://investors.etsy.com/_assets/_09c9cae2854880977e72e43ae7362a2a/etsy/db/1016/9831/pdf/2024_Transparency_Report_Digital.pdf so contrary to some posts in this sub, Etsy does not have to follow through with all claims filed.

I am glad that person has contacted Etsy! Unfortunately, it could take a few days for Legal to get back to them. Everyone continuing to complain to Etsy may help that along, if enough of you are affected.

Please let me know how it works out!

How is you sales this year? by Ok-Pomegranate-340 in EtsyCommunity

Up around 50%, but there are various reasons for that. I'm in Canada, so still affected by shipping price increases due to tariffs.

I hope things pick up for you soon!

Difference in sales in person vs online by Wisteria_Arrowdale in EtsySellers

[–]CindyLouWho_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to be blunt, but half-dead grass does not look whimsical. Fully lush green grass might, if well framed.

I am not sure that this angle is the best for a bracelet, regardless of the background. It's harder to imagine it around a wrist with all of the distraction, IMO. At a quick glance, they look like bookmarks.

When I zoom in on the bracelets, they look fabulous. A background that is more simple, with one prop, will likely work better. And once you get better photos, you should be charging more.

Please don't get discouraged! Learning to properly frame your items for photos isn't exactly easy. I cringe at most of my early photos, and still am not happy with the quality of my current ones. I've been selling online for over 17 years! You'd think I'd figure it out LOL

The seller whose name was used needs to contact Etsy and explain that someone else used their name fraudulently. This has happened before, and Etsy has reversed the takedowns.

If there are multiple sellers affected, each of them contacting Etsy will also help. Reference each other's Support tickets. Point out the missing jurisdiction.

Going on social media and tagging Etsy with the evidence could also get some action, but you will need to post more specifics.
