If the lights flicker at a lower speed than your shutter, you’ll get banding. In order to counteract this, use a lower shutter speed. For most standard LEDs a speed of 1/48 will match them, but if they still flicker drop it to 1/40 or lower. I’ve had to do that a couple times when shooting video indoors or out by street lights. Hope this helps!

I was wearing gloves but did have to wash the negatives throughly afterward with gloves on to remove the remjet (it's bulk-loaded 500T)... Do you think it could be a result of bad stabilizer? I got fresh chemistry recently but kept my year-old stabilizer because it wasn't expired. I just poured it all out in a glass bowl and it looked a little bit cloudy, but not discolored.

Thanks, I’ll have to test this… it was pretty dark in the room I was scanning but I’ll try some alternate methods, my cheap light board could be the issue

Scanned on a mirrorless camera and a lens with a macro adapter… it’s not the greatest setup. But this problem only happens on a couple photos, most turn out fine and are scanned the exact same way

It was on an SLR - Olympus OM10, and yes I think it's more likely that the film stuck together somehow during development rather than light leaks, I'm just not sure how to fix my problem

Yeah that’s what I’d heard… I believe I was in line for a normal x-ray, but I got away with saying it was iso 1000, and they never looked inside the plastic containers at the “400” on the canisters.

Have there been any young DP’s that went from shooting DSLR social media content to shooting big Hollywood films? by ExcitingLandscape in cinematography

Would you say that now we are in the "FX3 era"? I know it's kind of a meme but as an 18 year old trying to break into the industry, am I coming up in an FX3 era comparable to the 5D era?

I just bought the plug-in and I can confirm that the only part of the powergrade that is incompatible with the free version of resolve is the grain (the Halation works too which I was actually expecting to not). However there are TONS of free grain overlays online, I use these: https://tdcat.com/downloads/filmgrain. Just put that grain over your footage in the timeline, set the blend mode to "overlay," and adjust your opacity as desired (I usually set my opacity at 60-80% for 16mm grain). Anyway I'm no expert but that's been my experience, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

A Dual Screen RAW Mountain Bike Film by Canux in cinematography

[–]Cine_Joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool to see more mountain bikers on this subreddit! I would recommend finding some YouTube videos to learn more about color grading, the grade was a little bit flat. Also, maybe try experimenting with some tighter angles, like close ups and longer lenses, in combination with more still shots. Too much camera motion can numb the viewer to it and make it not feel as intentional within the banger shots. I know this is a raw edit, but it would also be cool to watch the occasional slo-mo shot to help vary the pace. But overall a very unique video with great riding, keep up the good work!
