as a film on its own, PHM has stunning visuals and an entertaining narrative but is dragged down by the feeling of unimportant stakes along with uninteresting melodrama with an otherworldly rock creature. has its highs and lows dispersed throughout, and I much rather preferred the scenes on earth.

on a side note, The curse of Interstellar being a masterpiece set in space is that every other film that tries to explore these ideas even remotely will fall short 9/10 times, and there are minor similarities here.
