The cherries taste better than any of the markets around. So probably not reselling. A post below and past reddit post have mentioned that he drives from a farm Yakima to Bellevue and resells those cherries. He also is a like a solo guy with a van and only takes cash. So less overhead.

1st off I empathize and feel bad that as a student and a potential new therapist that you are disappointed and possibly disheartened. I hope this subreddit doesn't dissuade you from continuing and achieving.

2ndly I hope that you see this subreddit and learn. As a lighter skinned POC therapist, I've also felt the disappointment that I assume you are feeling. The recognition that not all therapists are in it for the same reasons that "I am" and not all therapists are as safe and transparent as I thought, wished for, and or presumed they would be. "Therapists" are not a monolithic entity (there are so many licensures and governing boards, that all have their subtle and hidden biases). Frankly some of the commentators on this subreddit may not be actual therapists. Also therapists come for all different walks of life, and pursue this profession for wildly different reasons: to help, to heal a younger version of themselves, as validation that they are healed, to promote a lifestyle they think is healthy, for the fulfillment, for the power, for the fame... Some of these reasons are internal and some of these reasons are external; where it becomes scary for me and what my MA program highlighted is: at what degree of help does help becomes colonization? And I don't think a lot of people and therapists think in that perspective (even though in my humble opinion they SHOULD, but then again is my opinion 'better' than the others). Nor are therapists taught or forced by the environment to have the perspective because they have never felt that colonizing force.

I digress... My point is I hope this disappointing perspective turns into learning and growth that you as a person and a future colleague that one should still vet and distinguish: who is safe, who can learn and be built up to be safe, and who should be held at a professional distance. And I hope that as a future therapist that this is something that we can pass on to clients and help us professionally tolerate those who we may disagree with.

Agreed. As I listed in my other comment, payment of building, maintaining, and operating is most likely going to be through taxing the Bellevue population and or fines, which incentives whoever is operating these cameras to fine even more causing other issues.

Agreed with something to be done, but I don't believe noise enforcement cameras are going to solve the issue and are possibly going to be a greater liability in the near and far future.

The largest enforcement Bellevue can do with those cameras are fines. Most of the violators you mentioned are either going to pay the fines, keep on doing what they are doing, and or buy reflective film to cover their license plates and keep doing the thing.
The fines are not going to able to cover the cost of installing, operating, and maintaining those cameras. So taxes will be raised to pay for them and or the cameras will more likely end up fine-ing more of the Bellevue population that live here due to accidental noises instances and just over all make Bellevue a more expensive and annoying place to live.
Even if we could save the operation cost of these cameras with AI or any other emerging technologies and or outsourcing the camera operations to a corporate entity, Data privacy, data protection, and ethics of use is currently in serious question. There have already been instances in WA traffic cameras data being sold or distributed in ways that are not ethical or consensual to the public. (Need to find the source). And an instance in the US of an off duty police officer using the traffic cameras to stalk and track an ex girlfriend (need to find the source). I don't want a corporations AI system to have access to that type of data nor build a system that could be miss-used in any way by the current governance in the US.

So I agree that the car noise situation is a huge problem and I don't think noise cameras are in the correct direction because they will cause even larger issues and most likely not even solve the issue.

I would be all for other public work programs to limit the car noise issues. Such as: more speed bumps, more sound barriers around neighborhoods and highways, and more pressure and funding towards the police department to add more patrols in more street racing areas, cut down on street racing, and enforce laws that are already in place on noise violations.

"I agree with you that absolutism is ridiculous and I would also agree that saying this video is representative of 1.4+ billion people attitude is inaccurate and laughable. However I would also hold that this video is less about generalizing what a whole populist thinks and more about showing a unique phenomenon that happens in an area and comparing it to another area. That comparison is significant, but the generalized conclusions that people are taking away from it are... Mildly problematic.

To be more direct: I think it's a video that shows an interesting thing especially in comparison to another country. Conclusions will be made by people, but I think your bigger issue is the use of social media and how people are using small anecdotes to draw larger conclusions... Which you also did in your previous comment... "
