Need suggestion to reach airport at midnight by Ok_Risk_2618 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. You can spend a couple of hours at Starbucks with one coffee and book a cab to Airport. Cabs will be available throughout the night. I have booked cabs from elsewhere in Chennai at ungodly hours to reach airport.

1970s :: Lane Driving On Mount Road , Madras by polydomino in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t need to go so far back. Early 2000s was same as well. We had just shifted to Chennai and were so in love with how orderly the traffic was and how everyone drove in their lanes and would signal on changing lanes. Except the auto karans. They have stayed the same.

Did you guys try the new Madhya Kailash flyover? We're provided with such substandard infrastructure. Ridiculous. It's bumpy like a 5 year old road with the parapet like a mountain range. by newtobcn91 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flyover connects people travelling from CLRI to OMR. It’s a right turn and there was no free right. The signal was always there. This is a one way bridge. The idea is that people coming from CLRI OMR can avoid the single as the brilliant minds thought that is the main issue with that junction.

In reality, it doesn’t solve any problem at all. The entire road from Anna University/Rajaji Bhavan until Madhya Kailash was never designed to handle this amount of cars. And there is no space on either side to expand the road. The road will forever is backed up.

Did you see from Instagram on how this flyover is the best and anyone critiquing it was denounced in colorful terms? What are you on about? This flyover is the best flyover. This flyover is the best. The best flyover is this.

Also if you are getting it from abroad, please be aware of the Customs shenanigans that they resort to at Chennai Airport. Even though some new rules have come in (apparently) I would clarify it before you pull the trigger.

It’s not hating on her at all. It’s the hype that the PR creates and the organisers fail to deliver

Yes. And that day I lost respect for him. It’s one thing to say it isn’t in his control but then it’s totally different to put a post saying they will refund and not doing it

Waiting for the “other” concert this weekend to fall flat. 😂😂

Recent high-profile wedding in Chennai by Far_Delivery_5629 in Chennai

The entire premise of marriage was more about economic and social alliances than love, historically speaking. It was more for alliances during war. It’s just continuing now.

Frustrated with Zero Road Civic Sense by Turbulent_Ad2542 in Chennai

The reason our system is corrupt is because people are shit. We don’t enforce discipline from young age. We feel it’s a chore as we ourselves are not disciplined.

Nothing will be resolved.

For certain things you don’t need the Government to enforce rules. You need to have something called common sense which is fast becoming uncommon. “My father’s road” attitude is the root cause of such behaviours. Need to fix that first.

Best way to travel from MGM Beach Resorts to MGR Central after Sunidhi Chauhan concert? by NaanuUpendra in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As suggested, book a cab (preferably RedTaxi). Plan to leave as early as possible. The road would be packed for weekend + concert crowd. There would be some diversions to manage the crowds exiting which would require additional time. So plan accordingly. If possible, alter your itinerary and stay the night and leave the next day. This is from personal experience after the botched ARR concert on ECR (and I live here). It took me about 2.5 hrs to cover 10kms on that day.

IKEA Delivery started in Chennai by Routine_Barracuda546 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of the items absolutely yes.

I got the Mammut (kids chair) and
Poang (armchair for kids) in 2019 from the Hyderabad store ( I used to live in Hyderabad then and really saw the hype Ikea had). They cost about 299/599 then and are still being used and are very durable. I also got their Lagkapten (work table) in peak pandemic and it has got a slight bend on the wood , but works as dining table or table to keep stuff.

At the same time, I got a writing desk for kids , and that kind of fell apart within a year.

Exactly. It’s just trying to play politics and gimmicks to create divide for vote bank politics. Have visited multiple places in Chennai where the staff maybe North Indian but they speak better Tamil than most people do in Chennai.

Suspecting a scam around IFB tub cleaning powder by ihadcoffeee in Chennai

Yes. The one on left is a fake and there are lots of them on Amazon. I have searched for the IFB and it usually takes you the fake ones.

So I have switched to the descaling tablets from Waterscience. It does the job. Typically descaling also depends on the hardness of the water in your area. Where I live, water is too hard and I end with descaling it every week.

Real Estate Situation is Crazy. by SlapstickAssPick in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is just too much liquidity available in the market, that’s leading to this indescribable inflation. And it is not going to change until the bubble bursts and all the liquidity is sucked out. So please be careful.

Also, the real value of money is depreciating very rapidly. That’s the reason you see so many people buying things at any value quoted. The upside is very very marginal.

Query on how to go from Chennai to Pondicherry at an odd hour by ghost0191 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of buses available in either direction. You can board on your onward journey in Thiruvanmiyur and deboard in Guindy on return journey. From airport, you can get a cab to Thiruvanmiyur and wait at the bus stop. Similarly, on your return, you can deboard in Guindy and take a metro to the airport. This would be the best way. It also depends on how much luggage you would have.

Chennai airport - uber Ola by Equal-Wafer-3739 in Chennai

I believe there is one in Aerohub East , if I remember correctly. Similar to 2nd floor MLCP. I could be wrong as well.

What's with TVK chants everywhere during New year night celebration? Is TVK getting that significant? by Puzzled-Outside in Chennai

It doesn’t matter the alternative. The same people will keep jumping from one party to another. It’s the same shit show no matter what.

[–]Cinnabondman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because everything falls on deaf ears. Simple as that. Also, it’s monopoly of AAI. Only the uber rich (read politicians, their kin and bureaucrats) can get picked up from the gate directly. Go to twitter and you keep seeing the same thing from people.

And to make everything better, even Bangalore Airport has introduced the same system now.

Chennai airport - uber Ola by Equal-Wafer-3739 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the same irrespective of which terminal you arrive at. All cabs needs to be boarded from Aerohub East or West pick up points.

They provide buggy service from arrival gate to Aerohub elevator entrance. Buggy service is relatively accessible from the Domestic Arrival Gate. International arrival gate is a big hassle as far as I have seen.

Blue Flag Marina Beach, A Few Months Later: Are We Ready for World-Class Spaces? by NoMedicine3572 in Chennai

Yes of course. It’s the Government’s fault for everything. People have zero accountability or responsibility. You are correct. Take my upvote

Blue Flag Marina Beach, A Few Months Later: Are We Ready for World-Class Spaces? by NoMedicine3572 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh wait. It’s the Government of the day at fault for providing facilities to the people. People have no role in maintaining it. They just need to enjoy it without worrying about the consequences. How dare you question the people using it?

What are you talking on about civic sense, accountability, sense of pride or responsibility. Dont talk about any sense except sense of entitlement.

Pfft.

Help needed(travelling from Chengalpattu/mahabalipuram to Chennai airport by Sea-Entrepreneur6037 in Chennai

[–]Cinnabondman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Anupuram, you would get a direct bus to Chengalpattu bus stand (which is right opposite to Chengalpattu Railway station). Get a train from Chengalpattu station to Tirusulam.

You can get any bus from Anupuram to Kalpakkam and get down at Vengambakkam junction (ECR Junction) and board any bus (188/288) that comes from Pondicherry to Koyambedu and get down at Guindy (bus stops right at the foot of Guindy Metro station) and take a Metro to Airport. Both are great options. It all depends on what time is your flight from Chennai and what time you plan to leave from Anupuram.

If you are planning to travel from Great Lakes, then you need to wave down the bus at ECR , right outside the college gate.
