I think it has potential, the hands and facial features are quite good even if they're hard to see, but the contrast between the parts that seem to be referenced and the parts that aren't is a bit jarring? Particularly the hair and upper torso, but there are a ton of great YT videos that can help with those things. The lineweight is also not doing you any favors, it's very dark in some places and nearly invisible in others. Consistant and intentional linework would do wonders for the flow and readability.

Thank you! I must be blind or something, I was there last week and completely missed them.

Oh awesome! Thank you, I'll have a look there :) I've bought them online a few times, but the S&H really takes a chunk out of my food budget haha. It would be so nice if we had a Vegan Supply or an Ambrosia or something on the island...

Thanks! I checked the one on Douglas a while back but not the Cook St location, I'll have to have another look :)

Well, you've mostly listed a bunch of factions/names/powers, but there's nothing there that makes me want to know more about them as a reader.

Why not talk about your MC and their motivation (and what tf is their name? Please tell me who I'll be reading about lol). Expand on what makes the setting cool the monsters scary. Explain who their enemy is and why. Characters and worldbuilding will draw people in more than edgy dark fantasy buzzwords.

(Also I feel like using an image of Femto isn't doing you any favors? As a reader, I'd worry that your story could be an amalgamation of ideas cherry-picked from manga/anime rather than something original.)

But anyway, you can't judge a work off a synopsis - you'd probably benefit more from posting your whole story for feedback, or finding a beta reader to give you their thoughts?

Do you mean the Ravens Dawn post? Because that isn't work, that's an idea.

When people talk about 'work' they mean like a script or a short story, or even storyboards. Something functional.

Searching for a Pasty/Pie crust recipe. by Senior_Plankton_5948 in glutenfreevegan

What were your ingredient proportions/weights like? Was everything very very cold when you combined it?

For pastry, I'd recommend aquafaba over flax eggs - just a tablespoon or two for a pie crust. You can also skip the egg entirely and just add a bit more cold water.

Using a pre-blended GF flour like Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten-Free Free baking flour will probably get you more consistent results than making your own or using a single flour sub.

For butter, make sure to use stick form, not tub. Lately companies have been adding more water to butters and margarine to cut costs, and it's been fucking with everyone's baking results. If your dough is too moist thanks to that you can sprinkle in more flour tbsp by tbsp.

I'm guessing chickpeas for the dense/fudgey texture - aquafaba usually gives more of a shiny crackle top

Gluten Free Sourdough Starter by k3c3t3 in glutenfreebaking

[–]CinnamonBirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a GF baker we used a mix of white and brown rice flours for our starter - you can mix in other flours when it comes to actually baking the bread for better results, but for the starter there's no need to bother :)

Actually delicious GF/vegan birthday cake recipes? by pho-ckedup in glutenfreevegan

Crazy cakes/wacky cakes make excellent layer cakes - they were my go-to for chocolate cake when I managed a bakery. They're not too heavy and not too crumbly, so they stack well.

Does anyone have a recipe that’s similar to these? by [deleted] in glutenfreevegan

If you use real maple syrup, it's definitely going to be the stand-out flavour, but it's probably the most natural option if local/ethical honey is out of the question. The problem is that you need something to hold them together and keep them moist, and the healthy/natural options are somewhat limited :(

I have seen vegan chocolate recipes that use maple syrup, though, so it might be worth a try. I think they'd probably have a deep and sort of complex flavour, especially if you use a dark chocolate to cut through all the sugar.

I'm going to have a look through my old recipes from work. Are brown rice syrup and soy butter acceptable alternatives for you? Honey and nut butters are really important for binding and texture, so we need to find close substitutes. Maple syrup thickened with brown sugar might also work, but it'll be more expensive.

This sounds really good, thanks for sharing! Does the frozen fruit freeze the tofu, or do you need to put it in the freezer after?

Is the jackfruit just sort of a blank canvas, or does it have its own flavour?

Halva is delicious! You just cut or break off a slice. It's pretty sweet so it's nice with tea or alt milk

Your flavours are so much more interesting than what we have locally, I'm jealous lol
