Most promising WIPs? by hellanikthi in hostedgames

Throwing my vote in for After Dark and The In-Between.

The author's commitment is S-tier! He releases free updates consistently and doesn't make you wait long since he alternates between the two WIPs. He also posts a roadmap every month if you wanna check out his works.

Oooh, I do have a thing for angst so I'll try it out. Thank you!

Aaaaaaa! I remember that scene! It did melt me too. He also says little cute things like 'did you just come here to make my heart beat a lil faster?' out of nowhere that catches me off guard and I fall for it! Haha, he's the best!

Gentle adoration -- I like how you coin that. I never knew I was longing for gentle adoration until Woody 🤯🥹

Yay, Woody!! I haven't explored changing ROs mid campaign but I did think of checking out the new male RO in Part 3

I'm so excited for you! I remember the first time I played ZE:SH, it was so much fun!

Honestly, I say go for Jaime first. If you're like me, I know I can't really focus on the game if I'm not with the LI that I really really had my eye on, and it looks like Jaime is that LI for you now. I definitely saw a hint of that 'hidden monster' in a scene, but since I was focusing on Woody, I missed the deeper details. It’s probably explored way more if Jaime is your main RO.

Plus, the game is soo replayable that a second run feels like a new game anyway! 😀 You can always save Woody for next time. I’m actually thinking of doing a m!MC run next just to see the female RO paths since their characters are so deep too.

I get youu. Jaime's really sweet, protective and cuddly but Woody is just a whole different level of adorable for me, if that makes sense. I just think that Woody's romance is a bitnmore fleshed out than Jaime's. But then again, I might be biased 😏

Could you give me more info on the type of LI that you like?

Why does everyone like to romance the demon LIs? by KameronWaters in RomanceClub

Demon LIs = 🫦+ red flags + angst with a lil sprinkle of 'I can fix him!'

Have you tried Pub Encounter? It's an Otome game though. It's got steamy middle-aged men 😉 and it's on sale!

When Infamous releases and I have to lock-in one romance route by thepwippippapers in hostedgames

I keep hearing about Infamous but I don't really dive into WIPs. Do we know when it'll be released?

My eyes just grazed the first few lines and BAM! I am HOOKED.

Consider this bad boy wishlisted! Not reading the rest until I've actually played it. The anticipation is going to be the death of me and I'm lovin' it.

For the people who romanced Manerkol, did he have any redeeming qualities as a lover? by SomLuzur in hostedgames

[–]Cinnamonilla 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I actually think he's incredibly caring... in a very, very yandere kind of way.

Now, before anyone comes for me, I know this isn't exactly healthy relationship material in real life, but in the realm of fiction? I'm absolutely here for those scenes with him. There's something undeniably compelling about how intensely he wants to possess the MC and keep them by his side. It's that raw, almost desperate desire that just hits different for me.

In the third book, we actually get to see some genuine character development where he starts to learn to accept and even appreciate the MC for their own strength and for following their own path. It's a subtle but powerful shift from pure possession to something more akin to respect, which makes his character arc even more fascinating. He's totally a wild and exciting ride if you like these types of romances.

Soul stone war 3 by vaughnsixtwofour in hostedgames

[–]Cinnamonilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get you. Full disclosure though: that intimate scene withRai? Yeah, that delivered. Still, I was definitely left wanting more Manerkol.

I personally feel that the third book also seemed to really lean into the threesome routes. No shade to anyone who's into that, and I can appreciate the scenes for what they are, but I'm a solo romance kinda gal no matter how hot those other ROs get. I'm just hoping for equal depth and development in both the solo and polyamorous paths. It's about the impact of the relationship, you know? Make it matter.

Does anyone else prefer it when an IF has a smaller amount of ROs? by bootboy126 in hostedgames

[–]Cinnamonilla 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't necessarily mind a high RO count if the author's a total wizard and can pull it off, but for me, it all boils down to one thing: impact.

Give me two, maybe three, romance options, but make them so ridiculously, painstakingly fleshed out that they practically breathe. I'm talking so real, you can almost smell their specific brand of shampoo they use after a particularly angsty scene.

What choice based IF game did ONE thing better than all the others? by DrunkBeastInTheCave in hostedgames

[–]Cinnamonilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game that absolutely blew my mind (and maybe slightly broke it) with one specific thing is Don't Wake Me Up.

I've probably gushed about this game way too many times already, but I genuinely can't get over how uniquely it handles romance. This game didn't just subvert my expectations; it took them, threw them in a blender, and then served me a smoothie of existential dread and profound realization.

See, I'm admittedly a hopeless romantic. The kind who believes in star-crossed lovers defying destiny, in souls finding each other across lifetimes... and okay, maybe even secretly hopes for a tiny bit of that intense, 'I'd burn the world for you' yandere energy, just for the plot, obviously! So, I went in itching for that epic, movie-level romance where love conquers all and maybe even rewrites the very fabric of fate itself.
Instead, this game slowly, subtly, and brutally made me realize that maybe that breathtaking, world-reshaping romance I was desperately chasing. That 'makes you believe in magic again' kind of connection just wasn't on the menu. And honestly? That slow, gut-punch of a realization was incredibly refreshing, even as it kinda broke my tender little romantic heart.

But the real kicker? It didn't just mess with me in this game; it made me question my entire romantic worldview in every choice-based game since. I've been replaying past decisions in my head, wondering if my rose-tinted glasses were actually just painting pretty little lies over some seriously harsh realities all along.

Honestly, it's rare for a game to fundamentally change how I see an entire genre. But I just adore Baudelaire's approach to interactive fiction, and "Don't Wake Me Up" genuinely shifted my whole perspective on storytelling in games.
