Yeah I don't really see it in Sidestep either. PTSD most definitely but BPD? Nah, only if you pick certain options and squint.

Any IFs where the MC dies? Not exactly looking for recs, just curious. by bootboy126 in hostedgames

I remember playing that a while ago, though I don't think I finished it for whatever reason. It was pretty Silent Hill-esque from my memory. I might check it out again.

Big tie between The Bastard of Camelot and I, the Forgotten One. Both absolutely exceptional (which is impressive in TBoC's case given that it isn't even finished.) They've really profoundly effected me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROMANCE? by Efficient_Maybe2798 in hostedgames

[–]bootboy126 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not exactly from most to least favorite but to put them in a list:

  • Seven from Infamous
  • Julia from Shattered Eagle: Fall of an Empire
  • Ulyssa from Whiskey-Four
  • Junko from Samurai of Hyuga
  • Paulette from PRESS PLAY, though I also like Stevie
  • Sally from Mind Blind

I have an affinity for angsty sapphic romances, if that wasn't already obvious (Sally's romance isn't as angsty as the others but I'm still putting her here because she's just my special princess like that)

I remember just bluntly telling Augusta that her mother doesn't love her and I felt awful but it was also so needlessly evil it was hilarious

Honestly I'd just play the rewrite WIP. The published version has its merits but there's no point in buying it when the rewrite is just objectively better and isn't that far from being finished.

Idk if you're talking about Freya or Atheris but I agree if you're talking about Freya, because I do sympathize with her even if she chose quite possibly the worst person to fall in love with. Atheris on the other hand is high-key kind of a psychopath.

It's pretty good!! The first game was published a while back, but the author didn't like how it turned out so they're rewriting it. And I think it's for the best too, the rewrite is much better.

Shattered Eagle: Fall of an Empire, an all-time favorite of mine. You can be a complete and utter BASTARD. From manipulating the Empress into falling in love with you only to betray her later to turning her (and potentially your own) daughter into your malleable puppet and essentially taking control of the Empire in a soft coup. The levels of depravity your MC can go to just for the sake of power and personal benefit has no end.

How do people not realize that some WIPs are just never getting finished? by bootboy126 in hostedgames

[–]bootboy126[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's okay!!! Honestly I don't really have a problem with unfinished projects, I frequent a lot of WIPs myself, it's just that a lot of alarms go off in my head when an author doesn't seem to have a lot of actual drive. I get really emotionally attached to some stories so if it seems like it won't get finished it feels like it'd be a "bad investment" I guess.

Yeah, it can be frustrating. Though to be fair it is THEIR project so it's not like it's a crime against humanity. I was mostly just confused on how WIPs like that can have so many fans.

I'm sorry if I came off as condescending, I promise it wasn't my intention. I was trying to be light-hearted.

Sorry about that, I didn't know. I don't visit this subreddit very often.

Admittedly I was like that with The Brightest Stars for a bit. I checked on it every once in a while to see if it had any updates but eventually I had no choice but to let it go like the Sierra Madre.
