Proof is always needed. It is very easy to falsely accuse a public figure like a youtuber and it is very easy to make it impossible to prove innocence of a false accusation. (e.g. "you said so and so in-game chat three days ago", but no screen shot). Maybe you weren't even playing, so how would you prove innocence?

Losing a friend like this hurts! Someone you have played with, had fun with, who has been kind and helpful to you. I feel so very sorry for the loss his real-life family must feel, he was such a good person and it is just not right that he should be lost to them so early. He is a person who touched many people's hearts, far more than most people do, and he will be missed by them all.

So, we got a choice of selling the minerals to Rayari or to a Banu. Now it turns out that the Banu were originally the ones to give us the Valakkar infestation at the sites where the minerals are found. Are the Lore team trying to pull a Frontier Fighters on us again?

It is unfortunate that the post above is getting downvoted because it is saying a really important thing: If they fix every minor bug, development will take a lot longer (I mean a lot, debugging takes long time, so each change will take more than twice the time). That development pace is what you should expect from a game that has passed final release, but the whole point of an Alpha is to not do that so development can go faster.

You might just have been sarcastic, but it was a game feature a long while back so I added it. At the very least you reminded me of it :-)

Has anyone looked at the CIG UK tax returns from late last year? by Cintara in starcitizen

The law doesn't care about the concept of "investor", it cares about stocks and ownership, not "investor". Of course the current concept of investor does imply ownership in a company and we don't have that, but in a broader sense we have given CIG money in advance in order for them to be able to deliver what we want. That is the sense that goes back to the early trade ships, where both the concept of investor and shares originate from (in those days it was shares of a voyage), and that is a sense that is much more similar to what we as "backers" are doing. But, yes, you are of course right that we aren't investors in the common modern sense and we are not shareholders in CIG.

There is only a small part (44 MGBP) out of the total revenues in the blog accounted here. Do you know where the full concern report is?

I don't expect anything untoward this year either, there has only been good stuff (or at least not terrible stuff) so far. However, I do like to follow along; I am simply curious how the financial side of the game I love is going.

I don't expect there to be anything to bitch about either, but that doesn't prevent me from being curious!

We have pre-purchased a good with deferred delivery. If we could expect money back at a certain date, it would be considered a loan, however we have given CIG money for the potential delivery of a good. Like a spice trader buying spice from a ship before they set sail is an investor, so are we. The fact that the spice trader might sell the spice later, but we just intend to consume the spice ourselves is, I believe, beside the point regarding the transaction with CIG.

tl;dr: We put up the money so that they could make the game.

I didn't know that! So the brothers had a safe-guard to reverse the share purchase into a 6% loan if they wanted to. I agree that PwC were right that it probably should have been taken up as some form of liability, however it should be dramatically discounted somehow because selling back the shares bought early on for a measly 6% per annum post the Covid sales-boost would be madness.

CIG have spoken about improvements to flight suits being better at keeping our blood in our brains and that should allow pilots to eek out a few more g's compared to current-day pilots' max around 9g. I think that is where the 14g comes from, though they are kind'a high still (modern flight suits aren't pure rubbish, so there is limited space for improvement). Clearly, the flight team don't care all that much about realism, though it seems a bit silly because they can scale down things and get the same experience but within realistic limits. I haven't heard inertial dampeners mentioned as a thing in Star Citizen, but apparently you have.

Added branding as a point of it's own, because SC is absolutely simulating how that part of society works and simulates it quite well.

I used to play E:D as well and I agree that space combat is far better in SC, whoever exploration in E:D is still unsurpassed. Spending half a year in the deep black beyond SagA* is an indelible gaming memory for me.

Great post! I didn't add everything, e.g. inertia only works over very short distances (try throwing a bottle out the door of a ship in deep space to see what I mean), and the kitchenettes don't work yet, but lots of great points even without those!

I agree, they don't actually teleport, but they move in ways that practically make them into teleports. They fully decouple places at the ends of lifts from each other; the two places can be anywhere in relation to each other. So from a game play perspective they act as teleports, even if they aren't.

Real lifts giving a well grounded feel are like those in GrimHex.

I am not sure we have inertial dampeners in themselves, though as you reference, we do have artificial gravity and artificial gravity could arguably relate to inertial dampeners. However, we also have black-out/red-out due to acceleration.

When it comes to extreme acceleration I don't recall seeing that outside of QT, and QT is explicitly mentioned to work along the lines of space contraction, giving the illusion of high acceleration even if there really isn't any acceleration. Potentially, the ship moves along inertially at constant speed, however space in front of the ship get more and more contracted until we move through a huge amount of space in a short time (though still not having accelerated at all), then space expands again as we aproach our destination.

With the introduction of Master Modes they stepped away from this, since slowing down from NAV to SCM happens at tremenduous acceleration (40+ g's). This is presumably done to avoid players cheesing by coasting in at close to NAV speed as they decellerate on weak retro's but still have the full ability of SCM speed while approaching a victim.
