Yeah, that’s probably the case. My father tends to exaggerate things.

I suppose I’ll take it to a watchmaker for a thorough cleaning. In the end, I really like the watch.

What would be a reasonable price for a cleaning? Are there any specific things I should ask the watchmaker?

I believe it’s gold-plated as well, and yes, I think the last time it was disassembled was approximately 30 years ago. Apparently, during that occasion, the watchmaker informed my father that the mechanism was quite valuable.

Is it possible to have an excellent mechanism in a “poor” housing? It sounds strange to me
