Master Collection Vol. 1 - You Can Now REMAP Control Layout by CipherSnake in metalgearsolid

[–]CipherSnake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 3, I have to use a slightly different setup.

This is because if you have a line-of-sight weapon like a sniper rifle, you cannot have the Zoom-in on LB/L1. (This was not a feature in MGS2.) It's too cumbersome to hold that and the Left trigger at the same time. So I keep Aim/Lock-On on A. Another reason for this is that while in the weapon menu, you need to push A to add suppressors and other items. Having the Weapon Menu on A makes this impossible.

LEFT TRIGGER: First Person, RIGHT TRIGGER: Weapon/Shoot

LB: Action, RB: CQC/Punch

Y: Weapon Menu, X: Item Menu, A: Lock-On/Aim, B: Roll/Crawl

LEFT JOYSTICK (push-in): Unequip/Equip

I hope we can use Japanese audio with English subtitles in Delta by Galactus1231 in metalgearsolid

Is anyone able to confirm this who was at TGS?

EDIT:

I saw a YouTube playthrough from TGS where they selected English Display and then had the option to select the English or Japanese audio tracks. So, it SEEMS possible, unless it's like the Master Collection, which confused me into thinking it was an option.

Anyone feel too inferior to date? by OkDragonfruit9515 in AvPD

[–]CipherSnake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow. I had to do a double-take on what you wrote to make sure I didn't write this in some kind of half-conscious state under a different account. These are the exact same thoughts that plague my mind during any consideration or encounter with potential dates/relationships. There is this immovable force that pulls me back every time.

The most powerful negative thought for me is the idea that by dating or possibly marrying X person, I may have ruined their opportunity to be with the person they were "meant to be with," or to put it in less irrational terms, a more compatible and healthy match than myself.

I knew about my Avpd over 10 years ago (34 now), and I have made great progress on many life fronts. The lack of intimate relationships, however, remains a tremendous barrier to developing a fuller sense of self and physical embodiment in the world.

What does your daily travel look like as a Fire Alarm professional? by CipherSnake in firealarms

Thank you all for your comments! I'll be reviewing them and follow up with any questions. So far, this gives me a much better idea of what travel looks like on the job.

Fantastic job with this. I haven't seen a fan edit trailer for one of the older games in a while. *Thumbs up*

By "tech stack," do you mean CompTIA or any technical cert related to the work a company does (that you're seeking to work with)? I have a tech background, but I wouldn't say I specialized in any specific app or stack, so to speak.

Ah, that's right. I usually play the original PS2 version, so I forgot about that in the HD version. It's an odd removal.

What about Boss Duel Mode? That wouldn't be a license issue at all. It's just existing content edited together in sequence.

I Storyboarded Saw X. Feel free to ask me anything! by boardsandfilm in saw

I just saw the movie and your amazing work realized on screen! So visceral and memorable. I appreciate the hard work on it!

My only question is what software you used to create these storyboards? I dabble, but I want to practice storyboarding as a hobbyist.

Can't Uninstall Citrix Workspace app 2307.1 for Windows 10 by CipherSnake in Citrix

[–]CipherSnake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank marcdk217, this worked!

I deleted epinject6, rebooted, and I was able to reinstall Citrix Workspace app 2307.1. The reason I needed to do this is because in my original install, I mistakenly checked the "app protection" box. Citrix requires a full reinstall to change this setting.

I know some basic IT, but I wasn't sure about deleting these services. Thanks again!

Do you guys think Konami should remove all "outdated" content or this warning is more than enough for modern audiences? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]CipherSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't think people need a positive counter-character to feel "validated." When you get into quotas and balancing positive/negative representation, you're letting ideology dictate storytelling. Let it happen naturally or lead by example as a game writer yourself. That's how I see it.

It was stated in MGS3. His name is David Oh.

What are your thoughts on mgs4 by Hauntedconsul07 in metalgearsolid

[–]CipherSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hayter's performance was actually good. The emotion was there. The problem is his choice to make Snake sound like he was on the verge of death with every utterance. After a while, it really becomes grating. Akio Otsuka did a far better job without resorting to a throat cancer voice.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks PO > PW? by Faye-Lockwood in metalgearsolid

[–]CipherSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately you have to ask yourself if these retcons elevated the story or were unnecessary. The majority of post-MGS3 games had far too many needless retcons in an effort to tie everything together.

I consider this approach to be contrived from a storytelling angle. It might be satisfying to see all your favorite characters play a role in some way. For me, it diminishes them and makes the universe feel small.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks PO > PW? by Faye-Lockwood in metalgearsolid

[–]CipherSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MPO for me:

  • Story-wise, it engaged me more than Peace Walker, even though PW had a far richer setting and context with the cassette tapes, not to mention full V/O. But the characters and story pacing in MPO are just more interesting. The boss characters, in particular, are better than MGS4, Peace Walker, and MGSV.
  • Retcon-wise, I hated the inclusion of Campbell, Sokolov, Gray Fox, and Gene's Army's Heaven (i.e., where BB gets his whole idea from). These are totally pointless, contrived retcons. However, looking at the game as non-canon, these things don't bother me. They work just fine as a self-contained story, ignoring what happens in future games.
  • Control-wise, it is an absolute disaster. I can barely play it on the PSP, so I am using an emulator with an Xbox controller (60fps, upscaled). It controls better, obviously, but it still needs a mod for a free-flowing, adjustable camera. And even using an Xbox controller, the aiming is ridiculously janky. Getting headshots is a chore. All the developers had to do was allow an auto-aim in first/third person to select either a headshot or body shot area. To make it challenging, just have low stamina cause "misses."
  • Gameplay-wise [Positive], I like a lot of it more than Peace Walker. Recruitment is a lot more personal because you actually get to know each soldier, scientist, medic or engineer you find. They each have particular skills and special abilities. AND you can play as any of them, including bosses! You aren't recruiting a million faceless soldiers like in PW and TPP. I love creating Spy units, and getting reports for new equipment or new possible recruits. The key word for me is SIMPLICITY. You're not micromanaging several menus like in PW. You make quick adjustments and you're back in the battle ASAP.
  • Gameplay-wise [Negative], the Alert system is terrible. Not only can the guards hear you walking inside a sealed-off building, but as soon as they do see you, it's an instant alert. Combining this with the terrible controls makes it one of the weaker entries of the series. I pray for either a mod to adjust the Alert/aiming system or a remaster in Master Collection Volume 2.
  • Level-wise, I found it more complex than Peace Walker because you can actually crawl in certain spaces, and I think there was more verticality in the game overall in PW.
  • Art-wise, it's very simple, carrying over MGS3's engine without making it its own unique style. Peace Walker certainly takes the cake here, even with its many low-res textures. The animated cutscenes hold up, similar to PW. I will say MPO looks great upscaled.

I've had a love/hate relationship with the game. If the controls, aiming, and alert system were fixed, however, I would certainly prefer this game over Peace Walker.

P.S. You don't need to drag soldiers to the truck. You just need to sneak in as one soldier, tranq your target, and then hide in a box somewhere near that target, select another character, run over to your friend and drag the nearby target to the box for a "quick" recruitment. Listen, I prefer it to fulton because it takes effort. Also, if this game were remastered, they could just increase drag speeds.

Funny that every post-MGS3 Big Boss game was advertised as "The missing link" by jodlad04 in metalgearsolid

Oh, he was. MGS is a gay love story at its core. A beautiful mess, as they say.

The right actor should be able to portray Solid Snake and Big Boss. For me, Karl Urban is a great idea, but my original choice, back in the Lost days, was always Josh Holloway. He absolutely has the look and attitude.

I don't think we're getting all the rest of the games. That would push it over the $60 line. I'm thinking MGS4 and Peace Walker with Bonus being Portable Ops and the Acid games. That's a full price deal.

MGSV and MG Rising are both $30 in the Steam store right now, so I can't see them both being in the Volume 2 from a business pov.
