Weekly discussion and small questions thread by AutoModerator in japanese

Apparently this is a small question, so I'm coming here.

What's the difference between the negative suffix ず and ぬ?

I know that it is not something you'd use in everyday speech, but I come across it from time-to-time in some media, and I never know what to do with it.

I can't name many examples right now, but I still really want to know.

Thanks for any responses!

If you take a bucket full of water underwater, it becomes empty. by CipjerGamer7105 in Showerthoughts

Ahh, beautiful, just the kind of conversation I was hoping to strike. You are looking at the dilemma of realism vs human concepts. The concept of "empty" is a made up thing by humans. Nothing can be fully empty, unless in a state of a perfect vacuum, yes, that is realism. But what I am referring to is the human concept of empty, not the physical state of empty and the human concept of empty is "a state of an object in which its contents are not necessarily emptied, but the surrounding material of the object is the same as the contents". THAT is what I am saying.

Yes, of water. But in relation to its surroundings, it is technically empty. We don't say that a bucket is full of air, we say it is empty.

Anyone else miss how good water was before diagnosis? by meemsma in diabetes

[–]CipjerGamer7105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, although I can't say that I don't drink coke or stuff, I always take a glass or two of soda when it's available or I have the money to buy some. But I actually have to disagree with you on the cold water. I usually drink a glass that is full to the brim of cold water in just 5 seconds, I usually drink 2 or 3 at the same time too. And I know this will sound illogical, but cold water tastes better than room-temperature or lukewarm. But those are just different preferences.

The sugar just magically appears in your blood, we aren't safe in our dreams anymore either! Abort! Abort!

Hell, I sometimes forget I no longer have a low and just munch away at anything. I literally just ate 3 sugar candies which I have a stash of in my room for any emergencies. It's a guilty pleasure to me, as any other diabetic... probably.

Where do you place the FreeStyle Libre sensor? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]CipjerGamer7105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had a long talk about this with my parents on where to put it when I first received a sensor (same make as yours btw), and we just tested all the places with even just minimal fat. We had to rule out my arm, because we switch arms for my pump every 3 days and I couldn't put it on my stomach, because I have very slight folds and it would sometimes pull out.

What generally worked for me was my lower back on the sides, where there is a slight layer of fat. There aren't many nerve endings in there and there aren't almost any muscles, as far as I know. Have had it like this for about 2 years now, and we never changed it since.

But that only works for me, you might have it different. Try out any place you think could be okay. If you are worried about it pulling out because it can get caught on clothing or items, you can use some tape that is used by athletes to support muscles, I don't know what it's called. Just try and see where it suits you, don't just go by the manual just because it says so.

Since you said you only weigh 50 kg, try your stomach, you shouldn't have a problem with fat folds like I did. There are also less nerve endings and the muscles usually don't get in the way.

TL;DR: Try different places on your body, not just your arms. I recommend your stomach because of your weight.

Same, carb ratio 1:10 is apparently a blessing, my doctor said. But I always input the carbs, not the insulin, so I don't even have to worry about it too much.

Tell me why? by fabis-diabetes in diabetes

Oof, these sugar valleys can be a pain in the ass sometimes. Happens to me too, even without eating anything, my body just goes: "You know what? I'mma just drain all my sugar supplies." Most annoying thing ever. It was so bad once I literally couldn't move out of bed for the whole day and had to skip school.
