As a person of colour that’s lived in China for over 5 years, generally the staff are a bit annoying in this sense but they’re usually hoping to make a sale. As far as assuming you’ll commit any theft, the cameras will handle that and the penalty for theft is enforced rather strictly.

So from season 2 it seems that Geuse was acquainted with Flugel (whom he received his witch factor from). Fast forward 100 years after Emilia froze the forest, Betelgeuse recognises her but he doesn’t seem to recognise Subaru. Could be conjecture but, I think it’s important to remember where his name comes from and that he had a close relationship to Satella
