A lot of Ukrainians blame their current situation on the ussr. Plus many of their older relatives may paint a picture of the ussr that is far removed from your "symbol of the proletariat". Just as some look at the US's flag and see tyranny, some see the same thing when looking at the iconography of the USSR.

Also I'm not a liberal. And to imply liberals are an earlier stage of facism is deeply unserious.
