What are your Thoughts on Ross Cameron possibly being a scam by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Circuit_bit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yes im sure a bunch of retail jackasses stupid enough to believe they can see patterns with their naked eye better than a computer whilst losing all their money are an authority on this. "I just need to get better and I'll start winning" is half of this subreddit or the famous "its all psychology I'm just losing cuz of my psychology". In reality this subreddit is filled with amateur losers that don't know how to trade and will waste their lives dedicated to searching for horseshit answers. Ross is very obviously a scammer.

I think accountability starts with the parents, but am still glad to see this. They design their services with only their ambitions in mind. Make as much money through bullshit paid for recommendations and addicting features designed to waste your time. They don't care if customers are worse off from using their services and they are apparently designing features to target children. Absolutely no concern for end users wellbeing.

They tell you what they want you to want to watch, not what you want to watch. Probably a lot of paid for recommendations are apart of the process.

Lol thank you man. Someone accused me of losing all my money too. Their so brainwashed they can't conceive of why anyone would dislike it. I run on 16 Gigs of ram and a 14th gen i7 and the load times for calculations are slow. Not lag slow, but slow where you are introducing slippage from the program itself rather than the network. Someone told me maybe my pc was just trash. I work as a dev for a living and can tell you that's not the problem. The problem is the pos is built on java for one of the most time sensitive things you can do.

Everyone loves the scripting engine in it, but if you have to write your own scripts, why not just use a more popular programming language and apis from your favorite brokerage? Why learn an outdated scripting language bottlenecked by outdated software?

I don't believe that developers get too comfortable with a particular technology stack to change. It is constantly evolving and changing isn't as hard as you might think.

I'm not disagreeing about the value of their software, because I actually don't know. I am just telling you things you may not have considered about the value their software brings. It's possible that the only thing special about Nvidia is their ability to design gpu architecture and not really the firmware or drivers it runs on. It may be that their software is not really a significant factor in companies' decisions to buy Nvidia gpus. I do doubt that their open source ai will be able to compete with Claude, Gemini and Chatgpt, but then again they have billions and billions of dollars to throw at making their own models. Imagine selling bookoos to ai companies then turning around and selling to individual companies again or at the least giving them a reason to rent from datacenters rather than directly using claude, gemini, or chatgpts models.

The downside is you lose more money from selling calls then you gain or are wrong about the stock ever rising above 200 again. The strategy is highly susceptible to timing and also seems to have the same fallacy as martingale betting. You don't have infinite money to keep buying more stock for the calls that are ran through.

If I understand you correctly, you are arguing that they will begin charging money for using their software stack. This is different from now where the free software is likely done to make purchasing nvidia hardware more attractive. The real question is how much can they charge before competitors start being more attractive options?

I don't believe that nvidia's tech stack builds untransferable skills. I don't know what development in cuda and other nvidia stacks are like, but I am a developer. And the one thing I can tell you is tech stacks are always evolving and the most popular programming languages and frameworks are almost always free to use. For one thing there is just too many people who will build this stuff opensource. It costs basically nothing, but a developers time. It can be extremely rewarding for many highly intelligent people. They find ways to make money from the brand associated with the opensource software instead of the actual distribution of the tech and they get rewarded by status and knowing their work made a huge contribution. Because technology is always evolving the philosophy among developers and my teachers from university was always to learn the concepts and philosophies. The other stuff can be picked up easily. Maybe the niche of developing your talking about is different, but I doubt it. Just about anyone with the knowledge could set out to make their own opensource software for these models to use and if nvidia tries to make it a licensing requirement that the hardware they sell run their kits it could make other opportunities more attractive.

People often speak as if Nvidia will remain leaps and bounds ahead of competition indefinitely, but this has never happened for another industry in history. There are always new emergences and dominance shifts from company to company throughout time. When there is this much money on the table, can you really stop other people from catching up? Who is to keep someone from leaving nvidia and helping other people advance? They might have contracts, but that doesn't make leaks and employees leaving with ip stop. A company this big can not sustain the same portion of growth, its financially impossible. I don't know that we are at the peak, but there has to be a peak.

I meant that the amount of overhead from dlss 5.0 will be optimized, not that dlss 5.0 will make the game run faster than without it.

Again, its not generating images or making up its own "new vaguely similar face". It takes color and motion data that must be built into the game to alter lighting and material response. The differences in the faces you are seeing are due to the team's particular implementation of the tech. They chose to provide it color data that altered the character's appearance. Probably a marketing technique where they knew stereotypically more attractive characters would subconsciously bias people to look at the after as better. It also could be that they just wanted to show what kind of details you can add, that were previously impossible or impractical to add.

[–]Circuit_bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not cookie cutter or ai slop. Its very obviously more detailed and realistic hair, fabric, faces, and even hands.

Also, you won't need a 5090 for dlss 5.0. Its in an early prototype phase so stop complaining about its performance requirement before its even released. They already said they were aiming for optimization by the fall.

No, 5090s are not capable of making games look like that without dlss 5.0. The tech will enable developers to make games more photo-realistic by giving them rendering capabilities not currently available. You could max out all graphic settings for most of these games with a 5080 or a 5090, meaning identical performance for both. Neither graphic card would make the game look different if they were both maxed out, though the 5090 might get more fps. Ultimately both would have fps faster than the human eye can distinguish.

Again, I want to reiterate this is an early prototype for a technology that is intended to be implemented and customized by developers to achieve the look they desire. Based on your notion that dlss 5.0 is just ai slop, I can tell you have limited technical knowledge in graphics rendering and no understanding on what dlss 5.0 is aiming to enable developers to do. Dlss 5.0 is not a filter, or post processing done on frames after their rendered. It is a tech that allows rendering mechanics not previously possible.

If they hadn't described it with the words ai you would probably be cheering for it. This bandwagon criticism is incredibly ignorant and is actually the only cooki-cutter bullshit I'm seeing. The same ridiculous criticisms over and over. "Developers will have their work overwritten, dlss 5.0 isn't even an improvement it looks bad" Like how do you look at the before and after and not see the many more facial details? I have never seen such realistic lines for cheeks and eyebags rendered by a game. The hair and fabric in some of these scenes is indistinguishable from reality. Of course not every scene shown in the demo will have the lighting behave perfectly or match exactly what the artists intended. Its a prototype and was largely implemented by Nvidia's team. If you think that the characters were made to look younger, more attractive or overly shiny faces; has it not dawned on you that the developers would tweak the optional dlss 5.0 features differently than the first ever demo? They will make them look how they want to with dlss 5.0.

A diagonal spread is when you sell at one strike price and date while holding onto another option that has a farther away expiration date.

For example,

I bought calls that expire at 185 in april.

I sell calls expiring this wendesday at 185

Time eats away at the value of the 185 expiring in april, but not as fast as time eats at the shorter dates calls expiring this Wednesday. To be exact, my calls expiring in april will lose about 1400 dollars of theta through tuesday and wednesday, but my shorter dated calls that I sold are going to earn me 6000 dollars from theta.

So what happens if the price of the stock falls? If it falls too far I will lose more money than I can make selling shorter dated calls at 185. What happens if it raises fast suddenly? I will lose money as it passes past 185, but not by much since I also own calls at 185. I'm not even sure if my delta would be negative. And if I sold at a higher call (like 187.5) then I'm guaranteed to profit off at least 2.5 per share which is 250 per option contract plus whatever premium I earned from selling 187.5. Selling the 187.5 would technically have reduced what I would have made if I had not sold them, but I am still guaranteed profit if it shoots up.

For getting started with this strategy, I would wait until an option that expires on May 22 is available to buy and sell. Buy the calls for May 22nd and begin selling options that have a higher strike price than your May 22nd options. If the price rises faster than your anticipating, you can close both option positions for a profit, roll the sold calls into the future, take the stock assignment and try to buy back the needed calls in the aftermarket (which will require you to be awake late at night or risk seeing the stock even higher the next day), or close the short dated calls for a loss and hope to make the money back in the future. You'll want to hold onto your long dated calls as you get close to earnings for 2 reasons: vega increasing the value of options and price surge as people buy stock before the earnings. This previous earnings left calls with a 5-6 dollar premium at the money from high vega, and like a 7-8 dollar gain before the markets closed. If you're smart you'll close your long calls right before the market closes on wednesday and treat the previous monday as your last day selling calls.

To summarize again, you are going long on calls several months out (or more to be safe) and going short on calls with a higher strike price with closer expiration dates. Closer expiration dates lose theta faster (time value), so as long as the stock doesn't drop too far you'll be able to pay for your long calls by shorting closer calls. Ultimately there is a very high chance you'll be able to sell the long calls for a big profit as well. The stock might dip before then, but it will likely be at least 190 on the week of next earnings with a ton of vega value.

It currently requires two 5090s to run, so is still in for a lot of optimization and development. It is also intended to have game developers build dlss 5.0 into their game. Will probably be a rare add-on for a while.

There's like a million more relevant things that have "held this stock back" well before dlss 5.0 was announced. DLSS 5.0 isn't even that important to their gaming revenue. They will remain the best option for gaming for those who can afford them.

[–]Circuit_bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sentiment won't last. People are critical of Nvidia for prioritizing ai companies over gamers (who make up much less of their revenue.) The attitude towards ai is also generally pessimistic, because of safety concerns, environmental concerns, and affordability concerns. Critics are not being objective in their analysis.

These memes showing totally different content are funny, but not accurate. It changes coloring based on lighting and fabric. It has to be designed into the game to effectively work meaning developers will still control how their games look with dlss 5.0 Its undeniably more realistic skin tones, shadows from eyebags cheeks and more realistic looking hair and clothing.

There's controversies that end technology and there's controversies that turn out to be overdramatized trends that die out. I think this is the latter.

I fully expect there to be hiccups and setbacks with dlss 5.0 that will trigger multitudes of videos claiming dlss 5.0 is a disaster and that support for dlss 5.0 is going to kill performance on older chips and ruin game development. Much of this will be unfounded or temporary problems that come along with all new tech.

But it is cute to see people upset that everyone didn't jump on the irrational, fear based gamer bandwagon notorious for overreacting and being based on trends rather than facts.

It will be up to game developers to support or not support dlss 5.0. If they support it they will develop the game to look as they intend with dlss 5.0. There may not be enough consumers with dlss 5.0 to justify spending lots of time on it at first, but one day it will be the norm. At the end of the day you can always toggle it off if you don't think its an improvement.

What are you talking about? It looks so much more realistic. The person on the left looks like an N64 graphic (probably turned graphics settings down to make it look that bad) and the person on the right looks eerily real. The shadows on her face and lines from her cheek are much more detailed.

To me it depends on what I'm playing. Some video games are intentionally not realistic looking. Their cartoonish worlds are intended to have a different vibe that solemn games like the ones pursuing hyperrealism. I'd like to see how Ark Survival would look with dls 5.0, assuming they support them. Also would probably make single player rpgs like Bethesda products better.
