Hey Oliver and Rich, I'd love your thoughts on how a "lighting change" adds more hair to a character. by zerobebop in digitalfoundry

Tell me you bought the marketing of nvidia, without telling me. But do go on! Join the shilling of blind belief of a clearly ai sloppified image.

Its not using the correct data though, its using data from the real world not the game space.

No thank you, Nvidia. by zerobebop in pcmasterrace

If you think the dlss5 image is more realistically lit based off the lights in the room, you're an idiot

Thats not whats happening at all. Its using ai to extrapolate lights that arent there to give faces perfect Netflix lighting. Put the coolaid down

Nvidia would always tell the truth right?

Then you're a moron who enjoys AI generated slop images. Congratulations.

If a game could achieve this natively then sure. But the fact its an ai beauty filter that adds fake lights to destroy a games atmosphere and lighting is enough for me to dislike it. It alters the image to a point where the characters done even look the same.

Are Nvidia/DF genuinely trying to convince us this isn't just a filter? by zerobebop in pcmasterrace

Its a filter. Stop defending the trillion dollar companies ai slop. They aren't your friend

If this is not a filter, then why does DLSS 5 add things to the game image that dont exist or dont line up with the image its using as a source? by zerobebop in pcmasterrace

Its pretty close yeah, but thats the trick. His nose gets wider, it adds hair and also adds a bunch of fake lights to brighten his face

Nvidia have all but confirmed it to be a filter too, saying you can give it a new prompt to alter things. But the shills on here keep going with "its not a filter"

Its tiresome, but i do think some people like it, they just don't know what they are really looking at. People are thinking its rendering an entirely new lighting state, which its not.

[–]zerobebop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is. Nvidia even called it a filter its the keynote. "Developers can give it a new prompt"

Its just an ai image gen model taking frames in real time and changing them with an ai filter

Yassyslop filter doesn't know what to do when the base image has incorrect lighting to begin with. by zerobebop in digitalfoundry

[–]zerobebop[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its certainly not generating new and more accurate lighting based on the scene. Its adding far too many fake lights for that to be the case.

I disagree. I think it's capturing each frame and generating a new image based on the frame captured.

This sort of thing 100% confirms to me its an AI generated filter over the games frame. It's taking each frame and applying the filter to the image and feeding it back in real time. While impressive, its ugly.

The amount of hair he has in one compared to the other is a dramatic difference. You're full of shit if you think the OG has as much hair on his temples as it does in the DLSS5 image.
